Hi all.
I took my TEAS today which is one of the last things I needed to get done. It wasn't great, but I didn't study much, so... (kicking myself.) I did scrape into the "Advanced" level but I was about as low a score as you can get while still being there (78).
I am currently feeling worried. I'm applying to two nursing programs--as well as an MSW/MA program--and I keep wondering what I will do if I don't get in.
I have a "meandering" educational history--I dropped out of college the first time around because I was pregnant at 19. A few years later I went back and did earn a BA in Sociology. Last year I went back (again) to take bio and chem and apply to nursing programs, which is what I wanted to do even in high school. Here I am now-- 30, kids in middle school and elementary, and terrified--all the while feeling like I am back where I started once upon a time (well, with the addition of some wrinkles).
There were so many high school girls taking the TEAS test today. It made me feel old...and it made me wonder if I was too old to be starting over again. The pre-reqs are basic (successful completion of h.s. or college english, chem, bio, and algebra) and you only have to have a 60 on the TEAS to apply, but I have heard it still ends up very competitive. Also, it has been so long since some of my pre-reqs were done. The sciences I did go back and re-take last year, but the other two were high school or AP credit for college.
Is anyone else in the "worried wait" over the next couple of months with me?

I'm fluctuating between knowing my scores and GPA are high enough that I can be pretty sure I got in (or so everyone keeps telling me at school) and omg I have 10 weeks of anxiously waiting to see if I get a letter of acceptance in the mail. 27 with 2 kids under 4, at least with them, working part time, and school starting again on Tuesday I'll be busy enough to worry less, lol

I am 32 and have often felt the same way about age. It has always bothered me. I had my daughter at 19, dropped out of college, went back here and there. I finally got my LVN in 2008 and am now almost ready to apply (if i get a passing rate on my TEAS next week.:) My coworker, who is in his 40's, just had his first RN program orientation. He was worried about being the oldest in the group, but said he felt relieved when he saw the group. Basically he said there were all ages of people. Education is important, and nursing is a career that will always be in demand. Feel proud of yourself for taking the next step!
The wait is something that no one can control. Just know that it will happen when it's supposed to. I will be in that position soon, so I hope I can take my own advice!

The wait is making me crazy. I am also anxious about school this week cause I feel everyone is going to be talking about it and that we are going to hear about students being accepted and denied and that is going to make me even more anxious. When I look through old threads of lccc a bunch of students knew by the first week of February. I am so worried. Oh and then there is the beginning of the cat dissection on Wednesday that isn't helping to calm my mind. :/

To make your waiting time productive, you might want to start studying for a TEAS retake now. At the same time, if there is anything else you can do to make your applications stronger, you can initiate those actions too. Then you won't feel as if you are just swirling around in limbo but that you are being proactive about improving your future. Hopefully, a retake won't be necessary. Good luck.
Where are these threads?!?! I have such a hard time finding info about LCCC. Oh man, I can possibly know the decision that would alter my life in 2 weeks!?!?!?
Im actually sitting here reading through some stuff for A&P2, I cant believe class starts up again in 2 days.

I would not worry about your age. I would worry about your study habits. You really want to be a nurse, but you "didn't study much" for the TEAS?
Forget your age as people will look for any excuse not to go to school (age, to hard, not smart enough, etc). If you want to be a nurse then DO IT.

You're not alone, I'm 35 with 4 kids and working part time. Became a first time college student this past fall. It's hard work, but there are people doing it all around. There are those of us that didn't take the conventional route of college right after high school and then there are those that are changing careers. You're never to old to finish your goals (or just to make some new ones and go after those).
