waiting on FCCA packet/ CPNE Study Guide

Published

Hello All,

Well I am waiting on my FCCA packet and have started working on my CPNE application seems so unreal, exciting and scary:eek: all at the same time.

I have the CD with the CPNE study guide on it. How are we supposed to remember ALL the critical elements!!

what is the best way to study this?? When is a good time to go to a workshop and who has the best one?????

How long do you have your patients?? Are they all day like a shift or are you just with them long enough to do what needs to be done for the PCS?

I need to do that 1 credit class, the Info Literacy , what ever it is called, where do I take that? Is it a test at pearson vue??

I am going to shoot for late Sept. date, do you think that is to early??

Thanks everyone!!

I understand that the FCCA is like writing a care plan sort of, but only takes a few days to complete. Not quite there yet, but I've been gathering info.

Check with your advisor and tell them you want to take info lit (i think it is ENG103) through Penn Foster. It's way cheaper and someone just posted that they did the course in 3-4 hours.

All advice I've received on the CPNE to go specifically by the EC documentation and to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!! I'm interested in Lynn Fredericks workshop - many many good reviews there! But my understanding is that your will need to practice the critical elements until so can recall them in your sleep! It seems that the nurses who pass with flying colors, sound so much more comfortable with the routine and paperwork. Good luck, let us know how you do!! Kassie

Each PCS is 2 1/2 hours so that is the length you are with the pt. With ergards to the cpne study guide, i am in the middle of it and am making myown outline/notes from it. There is a TON of info on how to do this or pointers on what is and is not acceptable. Lunah recommended I know it and so I figure it must be important! I did the info lit with EC and it was expensive but took me a few hours to do. I hear that Penn foster is cheaper- maybe check that. The cpne workshops- i bought lynns and sheri taylors and so far I like sheris much better not to mention she seems so qualified to be instructing us on passing it. Good luck!!
