Waiting for the CA BRN to approve stipulated agreement

Published

Hi guys!

In a nutshell, I graduated from nursing school last year in June and was denied my license for a DUI I had in 2008. I appealed the denial in July and finally after many months signed a stipulated agreement in January 2014. I am now waiting on the board to approve my stipulated agreement.

Im just wondering if any of you know how long it takes for the board to approve the signed stipulated agreement? This has been a never ending experience and I just want to get it over with.. Any advice is much appreciated. Thnx.

Hi I was wondering if you ever got a reply to your ? I hope you have its been awhile. It took the board 3 1/2 months to approve my stipulated agreement. Now I'm wondering because the papers say I have 45 days from this date to get some of this stuff done but I still haven't been contacted by the probation department to set stuff up. Seeing as I still don't know exactly what my stipulations are until the probation dept tells me lol I know crazy right? :) I just don't want to mess it up by waiting to be contacted. How did it work for you?

Gizelle,

You should complete anything that is required of you within 45 days. If you have a hard time meeting any of the requirements, contact your probation monitor at the board of nursing and let them know. I'm not sure what the terms of your agreement are but it is important to meet all requirements that are asked of you from the board. They should've mailed you a list of things to be completed. I hope this helps. Let me know if there is any other question I can answer for you.

They did send the generic list but when I called them they said my person would let me know specifically and my time frame of 45 days will start on this Friday so I will get to it ASAP I am to paranoid to mess anything up. Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it

@ON_E you took the NCLEX while appealing your case and got the good pop up doing the Pearson trick correct? I got the same thing. I am waiting for the BRN to give me my RN license but do not know if I "officially passed". Can you please tell me how they notified you of passing? I really need some help and would greatly appreciate it if you would respond. Thanks in advance. If you would rather communicate through email my address is [email protected] . Thanks again?

I had the same thing and I was not notified I passed. I tested for the good pop up then I waited... When the board approved my stips they sent me a date that I would be an active RN when my license posted on the date the board said it would then I knew. If I hadn't passed I'm sure I would have been notified earlier but good pop up is still as accurate as it always has been.

Hi I have a ? Is it hard to find approved dr's for the mental and physical evals? I was hoping to use my primary dr through Kaiser. Also how much is it to have the UA's and how often roughly do you do them a month? Thanks in advance I really appreciate it

Gizelle22,

Thank you very much. Were you sent the date you would be licensed WITH your stipulations or AFTER your stipulations? I got my approved stipulation packet and it was saying that my application would be re-directed back to the licensing unit for my ATT, but I have already taken the NCLEX and have gotten the good pop up. So maybe they sent me this in error thinking that I had not taken the exam. I need to contact them to resolve this because I don't want it to delay my licensing process any further. Thanks again.

Gizelle22,

Also around December 20th I sent an email to the governors office filing a complaint against the BRN. I was later contacted by phone by someone who is part of the Department of Consumer Affrairs and she said that I should be receiving my license sometime before the end of Jan so I guess im okay? Idk sorry for the rambling. I'm concerned since I've been receiving conflicting info from the BRN which is annoying.

What did you include in your appeal letter?

Were your charges expunged or eligible for expungement? Do you mind if I ask what they were?

I signed a stipulation agreement Jan 2017 its now 9 months later. Haven't heard a word from the board. Heard it can take years. Min. 2 years
