I'm graduating in 3 weeks and I want to take the NCLEX LVN exam asap. However, our school said that it will take them a month to submit all necessary paperwork to the board and then i will have to wait for my invitation to test in the mail. Does this mean that I will have to wait for at least 2 months from the time I graduate to getting my license? Is there a shortcut? Can't I just submit my own paperwork to the State? Help please! Thanks.

Dunno if this helps at all, but I graduated on Dec. 20th and got my invitation to test the first week of January. I'm not taking the NCLEX until February though, as I'm doing the Kaplan rview course first.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I must say the turn around was pretty quick for you. Did you submitted your own paperwork to the state or your school did it for you? I guess I don't mind waiting anymore. After reading a lot of the threads, it seems everybody took their time to study and review for the NCLEX. Is it true if you fail you have to wait for 3 more mos to retake the test? Also, is the Kaplan like a mock board kinda review course? Good luck to you too!

My school submitted our info to the state the week we graduated. I sent my license app & fee to the state on Dec. 17 (same week as grad) & also that day signed up online with Pearson. I got my ATT in my e-mail yesterday. The e-mail said that it would take 7-10 days to get a paper copy of my ATT in snail mail.
If you want to hurry the process along, I suggest signing up online & paying via credit card.

They sent me an email confirmation saying if I did not receive my ATT within 4 weeks that I was to contact them. I got the authorization to test email a week later and the paper copy a few days after that. And from what I have been told, yes if you fail you have to wait 3 months to test again.Kaplan is teaching me how to break down the questions; how to look at them a different way. NCLEX-type questions are used to help review. I am getting a lot out of the course, and I find that my practice test scores have gone up considerably since I started the review. It has really changed the way I think my way through the questions.I have been going over practice questions daily since I graduated, so I hope by the time I sit for the exam I'll be well prepared!

Thanks, maire & rnmi2004 for your replies. I think I'll take it one day at a time and just study while waiting for my test dates. I thought it'll make me feel better to just get it over with but in reality it's making me more anxious that if I fail there's a longer wait to retest. I'll definitely take my time studying. Let me know when you guys take your test and I'll definitely give you updates. Good luck!
