Volunteering @ Hospitals / Houston area / Advice

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm currently enrolled to North Harris for the fall semester. I am interested in perusing a nursing degree. I'd like to volunteer at a large and busy hospital until school starts so I can get a feel for the environment. I am changing career paths completely from information technology to health care. I've found that Northeast in Humble takes volunteers, but only from 8:30PM to 4:30PM, Mon-Fri... does anyone know if there is anywhere else I may be able to find an opportunity? Has anyone else found volunteering jobs with erratic hours? Maybe later hours? I work 7AM to 3PM. I'd really like to do this until the new semester starts.

Thanks :)

Good luck.. I've applied to volunteer and nothing so far.

Hi redefinition,

What side of town are you on? Memorial Hermann seems to be fairly easy to get in contact with for volunteering, at least Woodlands Hospital did anyway. I followed this link: http://www.memorialhermann.org/services/volunteer.html and it led me to a phone number and name. I called and he's sending me an application and he said there is an orientation next Sunday I think.
