Hello Mia,

I have always wanted to be a nurse. Finally , I am going . I will begin as an LPN and continue from there. I feel drawn to doing medical missions as well so I was happy to see this forum here. I have been working in International adoptions for the past 8 years and am ready to begin my nursing so I can make a difference in the life of a child in a different way .

I would love to see your photos and hear about your experience. I feel particulary drawn to China and Ethiopia.

Take care,

China4mom

I just sent you a private message. I'm not sure of the rules for posting links to private pages, so that's why I didn't post the photo link here.

I'm definitely not a computer "geek"!! LOL

I am very interested in volunteer nursing, and a one week assignment sounds right up my alley. My question, did you have to PAY to do your volunteer work. I have come across companys on the internet that make you pay ALOT of money just volunteer....one company was like 1,000 dollars.

Yes, volunteer work can be very expensive. The individual normally is responsible for all costs; plane fare, accomodations, meals, etc.

My mission trip was roughly 1200.00. I had to pay my airfare and then a fee for the cost of food and transportation while in Mexico, as well as 2 nights total in a hotel before and after the mission part of the trip.

My suggestion is that you speak to folks who have been on prior mission trips, get some information on the best organizations, and go from there.

Please feel free to PM me if you want to chat about mission trips. I'm already starting to prepare for next summer's trip...not quite sure which organization I'm going with, but beginning the application process now for a few of my favorites.

Have a great day.

Dear Mia,

Could you please send me all your info on medical missions. I am a dental hyginenist and would like to start doing missions trips on a yearly basis.

Thanks and God Bless,

Hi,

I went on a three week medical missions trip to Zambia, Africa. The people were wonderful and soooo greatful. I went with GHO. They are a very good organization. They do many trips to Africa every year and are very organized. Aslo, the accomadations were good and the food was good.

If you belong to a church or synagongue you can send out letters asking for support. The trips to Africa are about 2,000-3,000 dollars.

If you have any more questions about my trip just pm me.

God Bless

Lotta
