Voluntary Recovery Program Dropout?

Published

I am an RN in PA. I'm in the VRP through PHMP due to a DUI in PA. I moved to PA from MD, where I also have an active license.

I have not worked as a nurse for three years. This program is expensive and time-consuming. I am not even sure I want to work as a nurse once I am cleared to do so.

I just want to know - if I quit participating in the VRP because I don't want to work as a nurse anymore, what action is taken against my license? Is it revoked? Have I voluntarily relinquished it? Does it affect my MD license, too?

Thanks.

HI! welcome to a great supportive place with really smart folks who have been through pretty much anything you can imagine. I just wanted to reach out here as I sent a private message (PM) to you, so it doesn't go unnoticed. :-)

You may want to see if you can get your monitoring transferred to Maryland. Compared to other states, MDs confidential recovery program is more laid back. Costs aren't as high as other programs from what I've read. Just a thought. I hope it works out !

I'd think very carefully before I dropped out. It could not only affect your PA license but the one in MD too.
