Congrats on your acceptance into the program! :yelclap: Can I ask what you applied with (GPA, TEAS test score, classes completed, county, etc.). I'm just curious as to what they look at when they accept an applicant as I applied with a 4.0 GPA. Also, did they give you a deadline for you to let them know you accept their offer of admission?

I appreciate your post about the Fauquier Campus and I tried to investigate further on the VA Board of Nursing website. I found an agenda on Education Information Conference Committee dated January 18, 2012 that references the following:

Repeat Initial Approval Survey Visit

Lord Fairfax Community College, Fauquier Campus - Associate Degree Nursing Education Program, Warrenton

Action: Recommend placing the program on conditional approval and withdraw the authority to admit students until such time the Program Director submits the following:

1. Evidence that current students will obtain the required amount of mental health clinical hours as evidenced by signed clinical contracts, dates and time of each clinical experience and where each student is assigned;

2. Plan of action that addresses how the previous graduates who have not passed the NCLEX-RN exam will obtain the required mental health clinical experiences beyond the long term care experience;

3. Evidence that there is a sufficient number of faculty to prepare the students to achieve the objectives of the program;

4. Provide a completed preceptor packet to include the performance of skills for which the student has had faculty supervised clinical and didactic preparation [18VAC90-20-95.D.3.];

In addition, a Board representative will conduct a site visit to verify compliance with the mental health clinical experiences.

Hmm my second choice was Fauquier and I wondered about why I hadn't heard of acceptance or denial into that program. Anyone hear about the LPN program? Those were my third and fourth choices.

malibu0827 - thanks for the info. the letter i received did say that the problem had to do with the mental health course, but it was pretty vague. i guess students at fauquier were not getting adequate mental health clinical time and failing their boards as a result?? hmmm, not good. this is a bit concerning, but i called the office yesterday and was told that lfcc believes they have done what is necessary to rectify the situation and they are just waiting for the next board meeting, which is july 17th. the woman i talked to said that if the board is satisfied at that time, then students who would have been accepted to the fauquier campus will be able to attend there in the fall; if not, then it will be middleburg until the issues get resolved. maybe if it turns out that students can go to fauquier, there will be more spots available at middleburg and they will go to the waiting list.

sorry you are on the waiting list. they were not kidding when they said it was competitive. my letter stated that i had to accept the offer by may 15th. i have a b.s. in forestry from va tech with a 3.4 gpa. over the last two years i took all the non-nursing courses i didn't already have and i have a 4.0 in those (a&p i & ii, micro, sociology and dev. psych). i got an 89% on the teas. i have a friend who also go accepted with similar background and grades and she got a 92% on the teas. she's declining the offer because she got accepted to marymount's bsn program.

onebusycat - lpn program is still on at fauquier. i got accepted to that too, but i turned it down in favor of the adn at middleburg. at least there's still a chance i'll be able to go to the fauquier campus, although i am a little concerned about these problems. what does it say about the rest of the program?

I did not hear anything about the LPN program - and had that as my third and fourth choices. Perhaps I should call.

All that I received was a letter about being on the wait list at Middleburg.

I received a phone call this morning that I was admitted to the LPN program from the wait list. I applied to the RN program also. Anyone here that's will be in the LPN program in Middletown?

Hi again all! I just wish July would get here already!. The more I think about getting accepted in July the more nervous I am. If the classes start at the end of August that would mean that we would need to do a "hurry up" orientation, drug screen, background check and required CPR class. Then schedule our classes when they will be almost full already and get our books, supplies and uniforms. Ughh! I also applied to the NVCC program and have received an email that my application was accepted and we should know by June 8 about acceptance. Their mandatory orientation is June 27. If I get accepted to NVCC I will go to the orientation but still anxiously await LFCC admission because with traffic and clinicals all over the place at NVCC (Their nursing program is in Springfield and clinicals are all over the D.C. surrounding areas) I prefer to go to LFCC as traffic is not bad at all in Middleotwn and I hear the clinicals are mostly all at Winchester. That would save me huge amounts of time in commuting which is a good thing considering I have two teenage boys in sports and I also work!

Anyone else out there going batty waiting for July? I was hoping to know before I went on vacation so that I could enjoy my summer but that is not gonna happen.

AHA CPR is good for 2 years, so go ahead and get it done and out of the way. Middletown's program is labor intensive and pretty fast paced. It's best if all of your prerequisites are completed prior to entry, simply for scheduling purposes. I just graduated in May, so trust me when I say all of this. I have a toddler, a full time job, and I was in the Nursing (ADN) program. Many people elected to stop working after the first semester to focus on the coursework. Many people have to apply multiple times to get in. Clinicals occur at Valley Health facilities, but not all clinicals occur at Winchester Medical Center. Your long term care clinicals are at area nursing homes, and those contracts change frequently.

Thanks for the info. I have CPR that expires next year and have gotten all my immunization records. I just don't like waiting this long to find out. I have been accepted at NVCC but I would rather go to LFCC as driving to Springfield multiple times a week doesn't sound appealing and the clinicals are all around the DC area which = traffic nightmare. I am going to attend the mandatory orientation at the end of the month to keep the option open but I wish I knew my position at lord fairfax now - not the middle of July.

I understand being impatient about finding out! The wait is attributed to what's going on with the Fauquier campus, right? I think it's a great idea to keep the NVCC spot active because you don't want to give it up and then not get into LFCC. Best of luck to you! On that same token, however, be sure to let NVCC know ASAP if you get into LFCC so some other NVCC student who is on the wait list can get in.
