I recently had a series of dilute urines and had to undergo an expensive evaluation including hair, blood, and urine testing for the evaluator. I'm not worried about my results, but am worried about how much this is costing me and what exactly IPN is looking for besides what I've already given them. This week I had a random urine and it was $138! I have never seen this test before. It was an add on to my normal panel I usually get. I have had issues back and forth with not peeing enough for the sample, to dilute when I hydrate. I would just like to know if this is something I will have to anticipate in the future. I'm in monitoring for Etoh, and have 2 years ahead of me. At $138 for urines and the $90 for the Peth, its a frightening future.
The $138 test showed up as 0-791975. Has anyone have this before or know what it is?

Everyone in my facilitates support group started getting the $138 urine in addition to the usual two urines a month intermittently beginning in October. So far it looks like another every three month add on, like PEths have tended to be but who knows? So far, those who go tit in October are getting it again now in January. I had that one in November and PEth in December besides the normal testing then. I’m already anticipating I’ll see the $138 urine again in February. I can’t wait to get out of this program. It’s not for the faint of heart. I’ve taught the two hour CE on Impairment in the Workplace for an FNA group and at a local college and I always tell them not to think nurses in monitoring don’t care about their license. They made a mistake at some point but they care more than you know about their nursing license or they would not be able to maintain the program they are forced to endure to keep that license.
I found out what the expensive urine is for. It's a test for something called Kratom. I had never seen it before or heard it mentioned, so I guess it's something new. I'm hoping that I won't keep getting tested for this, as I am already struggling to pay for all of my other testing and monitoring, including a SoberLink device. That in itself is $200/month. I don't know how we do it, but it's not a choice for me as my license means everything to me.
