32 yo male, in his first semester of RN school. Already finding that bedside nursing is not my niche. I am willing to give it the benefit off the doubt, but the OR seems to be more of a fit for me. Always been interested in it. Want to get into it as soon as I graduate. I am currently working at a hospital and will start working as a PCT after this summer. The hospital is a smaller community one in the suburbs of Dallas. It is very close knit with great people. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of heading to the OR after graduation? Periop 101? Is it possible to get into the OR without an official internship at a hospital? Thanks

Some have applied for jobs as orderlies in the OR and that worked..usually anything you can do to become a familiar face.
