So I just took the HESI 2A today and I was super disappointed on how I did.
First of all my college only wants you to take the Math and Reading Comprehension sections also we can take it as many times as we need too AND you need to have at least a 75%. We have two hours to complete the exam so each section you get an hour.
For math I scored a 74% which disappointed me A LOT. I studied all month and the main reason I got such a low score was because of stupid mistakes and my anxiety with being nervous and worried, also my strong point is in math. I knew exactly everything that was on the math section before I took the exam.
As I went to the Reading Comprehension section which I did second I basically only had 20 minutes left to do 57 questions and they had to kick me out because I wasn't finished when the time ran out. SO I basically had to click random answers so you already know how I did on that part, horrible. The 20 questions I did do, I got all of them right.
After the exam I went home and cried for about an hour. Nursing is everything to me and my only passion. My anxiety usually NEVER gets the best of me when I'm taking exams but for some reason I was so nervous and worried about impressing the nursing board that my mind was everywhere.
I just don't know what else to study. I know everything on the exam already so I guess I'll just have to print the study packets off the evolve website on the parts I missed.
I'm just so worried and nervous to take the exam again for the second time because I feel like my anxiety is going to take over again. I really wanted to take it the first time and knocked it out once then not have to worry about it again but that didn't happen.
The next exam is February 15th and of course I have to retake both sections again so that leaves me about 2 weeks to study. I'm still so nervous.

Slow down. Breathe. And pace yourself. Use some of that study time to unwind.

I used the most recent hesi study guide 3rd edition, elsevier. There is quizlet on line for hesi study and test-guide.com. I failed my first hesi with a 61 composite. I was heart broken and it felt like the end of the world and I chose to transfer schools in order to get a second shot at it without having to wait a year. And it really is stressful going in that second time, with anxiety and everything else on your mind. Just review your math and your reading-go in there and do your best. Thats all you can do. My second attempt came out only an 82 composite and when comparing with those who actually reveal their score, it seems everyone makes 90 and up, but I take my 82 proudly. And hopefully in a few days find out if Im accepted or not. Never give up. Youre not the only one who has had to repeat the test. And if your school lets you use the calculator, practice calculations over and over. My school allowed NO calculator, no drop down, nothing and I was sure I would fail and passed with a 78. Good luck. And I second the advice to breathe. :)

Don't give up! You can do this! It's okay to be upset, but don't let it defeat you. :) Have you tried looking up any relaxation techniques? They can be very helpful! My advice would be to re-study what you need, and then the day before you test STOP STUDYING! Go do something fun! Take a walk in the park or see a movie with some friends. I drink chamomile tea before bed to help me relax and get a good night sleep. Then eat a good breakfast, and arrive early at your testing center so that you are not rushing or anything. From your post, it seems like you know the material. I'm sure you will do fine this time! I am taking my hesi on the 15th as well, so let me know how you do!

Hi. Don't worry. First of all just review the material and try to remember where you had the most trouble. I took the Teas and I did not pass the first time and I had te remediate. Then wait 6 months to retake it. 1st
score was 61.3 I needed a 62.
Then I took it again passed it with 70. 7
I yook the Hesi and I just studied from Ati Teas book and a book I rented from library and I got a 82. So, what I sm saying is don't beat yourself up. I sm glad I failed the teas because when I remediated it helped me achieve higher scores and reviewed all of material I forgotten. DON'T GIVE UP!!

My heart goes to you with incredible empathy! I recently took the TEAS5 and was very disappointed as well. Just as you did, I cried too because of the effort and time I had put in toward the test, and was depressed for days after. It has been 2 weeks and I am still feeling let down but I know that others have had the same experience which in a way is soothing just a bit. I will try again when I can get some confidence back and begin the study process once again. I had the time I needed, just not the knowledge base necessary for all parts of the test. Give yourself time to heal the hurt and know that many successful people in the field of nursing have had several setbacks as well. Best of luck to you and there will be a better results next time. That's what I am working for next time too.
