I have decided on a career change to nursing and so excited about it!!However I am facing a lot of obstacles with my credit, being a international graduate.

Recently,I heard about UVM and the transfer options available.

I have an overall Grade average 2.61.I was wondering if I have any chance at UVM.

what chance do I have?

Is my GPA too low for any nursing programs?

Hi, where are you from and where in VT do you currently live?

I transferred to uvm (not for nursing, i'm also a career-changer) after completing two years of college in Canada- all of my credits transferred. However, a 2.61 might be too low to get in. Also, depending on where you live, I can recommend other good nursing program in VT. UVM is very expensive, and the educational quality is not worth the price, IMO. I completed one semester of graduate coursework at the UVM college of nursing and health sciences, and my experience was awful. Early in the semester, I asked my advisor if she had any recommendations for a tutor (I wanted extra help in pathophysiology), and she responded by asking if I had a "cognitive issue". I have absolutely nothing good to say about the place.

Have you looked into ccv to take classes and raise your GPA?

Your GPA seems really low, you will need to search for a program that has that as minimum for application and that is not saturated with applicants.

You may need to find a way to raise that GPA.

Thank you for replying. I had lost all hope thinking that I had no chance at all since no one had replied to my post earlier.

Anyway, I went on to do their pre-requisites in the local community college(CCV).I am hoping that I can show them(or any other place) that I can be a good student. I hope this would raise my GPA as someone else pointed out.

You did share some good points that I want to consider while choosing UVM.

I live in Plattsburgh and do you have any other suggestions for me.

I did join CCV and am currently doing all the prerequisites. Praying and hoping that I do well

CCV is a great first step! If there's an entrance exam to your nursing school try to ace that too. I don't know how uvm evaluates nursing admissions but maybe volunteering at a hospital and/or getting your LNA would show them you have some experience. :)

I applied for a clinical assistant job and still waiting to hear whether I got it or not. Online schools seems to have no problem with my GPA but do not want to venture on that line yet.

I want to give my best shot..

Can a LPN degree help me? Are there more direct entry programs after LPN?

By online do you mean one of those for-profit, non-accredited, extremely expensive schools? I'm not sure how you could get a nursing degree online (other than advanced or bridge programs) as you need to do clinicals. I'm not sure if it would be easier to get into an LPN school, but there are definitely bridging programs for LPN-ADN and LPN-BSN.

Unfortunately, I did not get the clinical assistant job, I am having not much luck in getting a nursing assistant or any nursing allied job..How fast can I get my NA license and do I have to attend a school for it?

Look into the Barre Tech Center, I'm pretty sure they still offer an LNA class.
