Vegas Excelsior Newbie.....

Published

Hi All I am in Las Vegas and I am just getting started. I have a

goal of just over a year to finish this. I am currently in a

financial bind that is stopping me but I have found a way around it

and will carry on. I am just starting to study for the Anatomy and

Physiology. If you wanna study let me know. From there I am doing:

Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Information Literacy, NC 1, and NC

2... I should be gettin those done about the beginning or mid august

and then I am off to training for 91w in the Army reserves for 4

months then I should be back around November or December and I wanna

finish to Graduate in July. I am going to have plenty of down time

in training to study for my NCs just gonna be unable to take them

until I get back to Nevada cause my "school hours" interfer with

that plus i have to have my AATRS transcripts from the Army to be

able to enroll. I have already talked with the Offices at Excelsior

and found that I am more than eligible to enroll with just my medic

license but i have to take my Natinal Registry for that and Imma

wait on that until after I finish the training. Anyway if you wanna

study with me or chat or something let me know.

i want to wish you luck.

i'm a medic and a RN. and an excelsior grad.

it's a long road you're stepping on. i wouldn't worry so much about a timetable as the fact that you're continuing to make progress. you're going to have to really put the nose to the grindstone and keep it there. you've got loads of time, and i wouldn't be in a rush.

party on dude.

Hello, I am new to this as well. I have some core to do which I am currently working on. I want to finish as soon as possible basically because my husband doesn't think this can be done this way. He is an RNBSN but went to class on campus and believes that is the only way to do it. This isn't a option for me as I have to work full time and have 2 kids. I don't have enough days in the week to go to class on campus. I think I am over studying and probably afraid to just jump in and take that first test. I want so bad to prove to him that I can do this I am afraid to fail. Does anyone have any suggestions to know when you are ready to jump in and take the first test?

well you husband is very wrong and you can complete your rn degree this way and just tell him you will. excelsior is not easy although the exams for me were not difficult , i am starting to study for the clincal part and finding myself :banghead: banging my head. there is no instructor to spoon feed this info to you or no deadlines (other than the ones you set yourself) to encourage you to complete your studying. it is all up to you. it requires extreme dedication and drive. my advise is jump right on in . other wise you will sit around and think about it and talk yourself out of it. get into the distance learning forum and read all the post and advise from all who are doing it and have completed it. there is plenty of motivation to get you through i promise.....

TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAMS SCHEDULED YOUR DATE AND STICK TO IT. If you think of it when your at a brick and mortar, your exams are scheduled for you and you study until the deadline.... do the same here.
