Hi, I"m going to be moving to Kissimme FL before i graduate from high school and so my best bet for nursing would be to get my ASN from Valencia and then transfer to UCF for my BSN. i was just wondering how long the waitlist is for valencia. I read a pretty old thread that said that the waitlist would be over a year. If that's the case then I think I should consider just going for my full BSN first. Does anybody know about Valencia Community College's nursing program at all?
Is there any info you can share with me? I'd appreciate it very much! Thank you

valencia's current waiting list is about two semesters after all the pre req are done. they're currently accepting applications for spring 2010 and the nursing program is full time during the week.they do not offer an evening or weekend program. i hope this helps.
1. submit a completed college application for admission by the college application deadline. visit valencia's web site at www.valenciacc.edu/admissions for specific information
2. attend a group advisement session about the nursing program prior to submitting nursing application to the program
3. prior to submitting the nursing program application, applicants must meet the college admission requirements for degree seeking students. college entry level assessment, computerized placement tests, and all mandatory courses in reading, student success, mathematics, english, and english for academic purposes must be completed prior to submitting the nursing program application.
4. applicants to the nursing program must have an overall gpa of 2.5
5. all science and general education courses must be completed prior to submitting a nursing application.
science courses include:
bsc 2093c - anatomy and physiology i
bsc 2094c - anatomy and physiology ii
mcb 2010c - microbiology
general education courses include:
psy 1012 - general psychology
dep 2004 - developmental psychology
enc 1101 - freshman composition
hun 2202 - essentials of nutrition
phi 2600 - ethics and critical thinking or phi 2010 - philosophy recommended or any course with hum prefix that meets the aa degree requirement.
6. you must complete the nursing entrance test (net) prior to nursing application with an overall composite score of 65% and reading comprehension score of 65%.
How long is the waiting list for UCF do you know?
Sorry I don't know.. Good Luck

Hey there dancer_meggs,
I recently spoke with a woman at Valencia's "Answer Center." There really isn't a waiting list at UCF, but unfortunately the nursing program only admits 75 students/year. It's quite odd (and annoying lol) because the school has roughly 60,000 students. Also, to be considered, one must have a minimum 3.7 GPA. On the brighter side, Valencia's nursing program accepts 150 students three times/year. There is about a 2 semester waiting list, but instead of sitting around one can knock out an AA degree or even an A.S. degree that applies to the medical field.
