I was wondering if any of you guys will be starting nursing school at Valencia summer 2014. I'm really nervous. I don't know anyone that's currently in nursing school nor anyone who will be starting. Also, could any of the previous nursing l students give any ideas about what to expect.

Have fun! I am doing Nursing 1 right now. Tips: Get books early and study. Don't go for the first chapter first. work on dosage. the More you know for dosage the easier week one will be! Read a head this means as soon as you get your calendar dig in to the chapters. Don't forget to take time for yourselves. It is very stressful but the weekends are welcomed relief!
Thank you that's so helpful I plan to try and get my books as soon as I get my list.
I am resequencing ( Not spelled correctly) I am telling you READ each chapter they tell you to. First time I took Nursing 1 was in the summer as well. It is hard because it is a shorter term. but if you are able to start reading earlier go for it. or at least get an Idea of the materials. and don't just read the chapters look at the tables and boxes in the chapter.
Do we get the calendar at orientation? I really just want to start studying early so hopefully it isn't so overwhelming. Also what was the hardest class/classes
No we get the calendars a few days before first day of classes! Also its 1 whole class worth 10 credits = Nursing 1. there are 3 parts they are Theory, lab and then Clinicals. This semester we have lectures Mondays and Wednesdays 9 am to 12:30 lab days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 4 pm. There are only 2 clinicals the first semester at the end.
Oh ok thanks for all the info and tips :)
I can't wait to meet you. The unknown is making me really nervous. Have you started "knocking down" some of those requirements that's due April 14? I took 2 weeks off work to get that stuff done. It was really overwhelming..lol
I'm so glad you said that about dosage. I seen an earlier post about dosage calculations so I bought the book called dimensional analysis for meds. I started working in the book at the beginning of this month and already on chapter 11 of 21. So far it doesn't seem to be that difficult but I love math so it may be difficult for other people. So how is it going in nursing 1 this time around? I am really nervous. I guess because I don't know what to expect but I will be working my butt off to be successful in this program. I told my husband I will live with my head in the books so this will be a boring summer for him...lol
:) I'm excited to meet you as well. Only things left on my list are physical and immunizations ( have appt for Thursday) and CPR certification which I'm signed up for the class on April 12 that makes me nervous because it's cutting it so close but by the time I went to sign of for march's class it was full. I also have been working on dosage And med abbreviation. I'm am so nervous but I'm going to work my tush off and hopefully we will kick butt our first term.
Where did you sign up at for CPR because I used all care health services (they were listed on that list provided) and there was only 2 people in my class including myself and it was so much fun. It also only lasted 4 hrs but it was $55. I completed my physical and got some immunizations at centra care last week and I was there for like 4 hrs. I ended up needing the hepatitis b series. I got the first shot 3/13, the second shot is due 4/13, which is cutting it close since everything is due 4/14, and the third shot is due 6 months later. Now I'm debating if I should just decline the hepatitis shots just to make sure everything is submitted in time but still get the shots. I think we will be fine. The unknown is nerve wrecking but if it was easy, everyone would be doing it :)
