VA NP Residencies / Resedency

I’d love to start a thread with those who were accepted and/or not accepted to the VA NP residency programs. I graduate from a post master’s PMHNP program in ‘22 and would love to hear how competitive they are before spending the time and money applying and preparing to uproot my family for one. I already have a RN license in the 3 programs I’ll be applying to and I’m a combat veteran with prior experience working with the VA as a RN  

  1. Did you have your DNP vs MSN?
  2. What did your work experience look like prior?
  3. Are you prior service or a combat veteran?
  4. What do you feel like gave you the competitive edge? Essay? GPA? Prior experience?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
