I was curious if anyone had any details about the VA's HBPC program. How many patients do you see per day? Do you have a company vehicle or use your own vehicle? How are patients selected for HBPC? There is a job opening in my area and I am considering applying for this position.
Any info is appreciated!

I have applied to the VA HBPC program too and had 2 interviews and due to hear if I get the job tomorrow. If I get the conditional offer tomorrow then I will call the current mid level and ask those questions and let you know.

Congrats!
Congrats LubbockNP! Excited for you! Did you have a chance to find out anything specific about the job? I'm pretty sure I am going to apply for the position in my area as the federal benefits seem too good to pass up!!

As soon as I know the specifics I will pass it on for sure. Please put your application in now. you can always decline it if you get offered it and don't want it. At least where I live, we only have an outpatient clinic and the competition is fierce for NP positions.
I have asked the PA who works in HBPC if I could shadow him for a day (I have a tentative offer). He said he is checking with the big admin people. I really want to pick his brain and see what he does before I pass the point of no return. Keep ya'll updated when I know more.
Thanks for the update! I am surprised they did not elaborate on the actual job more during the interview process. I received a call for an interview today for the HBPC position in my area. Please keep me posted!!
The VA administration shot down me shadowing the PA for a day before the official job offer and me accepting it. Very weird I think!!!!
Hmm.... Strange. What was their rationale? You would think they would want you to shadow and be sure the job is something that is a good fit before you officially accept. I had my interview a week ago, over the phone and I feel that it went well. I am not 100 percent confident that the job would be a good fit for me after asking some questions of the panel during the interview. My biggest concern was having to travel to cover other regions and they said I would be driving 1k miles per month at least. I live in a rural area and not sure I want to be stuck in he middle of a cow pasture with no cell service at 5pm on a Friday! Ha
