UTMB Spring 2015 Applicants

Published

Hey Y'all,

I read through the whole UTMB Fall 2014 thread and thought I'd start the next semesters thread (because I couldn't find one). I know the application doesn't close until May 31st, but thought it would be helpful to start this now.

My score was very LOW: 70%

First time taking it. Hopefully I do way better.. see where it goes.

Again if you don't mind my asking, how do the rest of your stats look? I got a somewhat low score on the teas as well 74%, but my gpa is fairly high.

I don't mind. My GPA is also not the best 3.18 I believe. No associates, 2 classes away from that. I put 100% on my personal statement. & fairly 5 months experience at a PCP office doing PFT, Allergy test, EMG'S, VNG'S, and ECG'S. I really regret not striving for a higher GPA from the get-go

Well that seems like a great opportunity then. I hope it goes really well for you. I'm really hoping the waiting game doesn't last for too much longer. I know we're all in the same boat practically holding our breath lol.

You have a great experience which I believe will have a positive impact on your application. What resources did you use to prepare for your TEAS?

Good thinking. Thank you. Good luck to you too! I considered re-applying in case I do not get accepted. I check my email every 20 min everyday I don't suggest it at all!

I'm right there with you. My phone gets a work out everyday (much to the dismay of my battery life) with my checking mystar and email. AN too! I keep praying to the nursing school gods to let me know something for the sake of my shot nerves lol.

Thank you! I'm pretty realistic with my chances..it is very competitive and they do want the best candidates for their school. But no good in being anything but Positive right?

I used the TEAS manual and online Practice assessment (Form A) for 45$ that one was very nice. I will be completely honest and say I prepared about 2 weeks prior to the test. But now that I have my previous TEAS scores, I know what areas to work on.

Oh yes. I will also try and apply again for the Summer in case I do not get into this one. I am also not ruling out applying to UT Tyler, UT of health science center, San Antonio, and UT El Paso. However, UTMB and UTHSCSA are my top choices. I believe when you get time to prepare on the TEAS, you will do well especially with the first experience that you have had. I had problem on the Reading side during the test, but on the whole it was not bad.

Keep trying and regardless of whichever one you end up going to you'll be gravy...they ALL are really good options. This is my only option as of now but I did look into UT SA as a possibility. Reading was one of my downfalls!

I applied to UT health science center Houston as well if y'all haven't considered that one yet.

So where will you choose if it happens you are admitted to both of them?

Tough question. I really like the feel of UTMB and my friend that goes there loves it, but I also have a friend that goes to uthsc Houston and loves it as well. Also, uthsc Houston is ranked number 15 in the nation which is something to be considered when I applying for residency programs and the like.

Uthsc is all about the numbers and my numbers for them are very high. Whereas for utmb I'm not so sure how competitive I am. I guess it just really all boils down to which program I decide suits my learning style the best. Though the likelihood of me being excepted to both is not very great. At this point I will be happy to be accepted into either.
