UTMB Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I cannot believe it's actually time for me to apply to nursing school. It seems like I've been working on my pre-reqs forever now and it's finally here. I didn't see any utmb 2017 fall hopefuls yet so I thought I'd create a thread. I'm having one heck of a time with the application process. I'm taking my teas next Wednesday and submitting my application after that. Has anyone sent in their transcripts through nursingCAS yet? Anyone have any pre-reqs they still need to complete? I have one last semester to finish. Good luck to everyone applying this semester!

Fb request sent!

I just requested for the FB page as well! :)

Y'all don't be giving away my identity now :roflmao:

The masks are coming off! XD

So I applied to uthsc, etsu, gwu, um, lsu, and UTMB and I've gotten into every single one of these schools except UTMB which I've only received a request of supplemental and teas Score from in January.

It's unbelievable how SLOW this school is in the admission process. I haven't received an interview from them nor a rejection or waitlist email so simply waiting. I live in Houston so this is the ONLY Texas school I applied to because the others required hesi í ½í¹„

@ugochi525, don't worry at all. UTMB may take longer than other schools but they also do have a huge applicant pool that they must narrow down to less than 20%, I believe. I also noticed you're new so I'm not sure how many other forum threads and posts you've been able to read, but we've noticed on here that there have been 3-4 rounds of interview invitations that last for months. Also, even after interviewing, they tell you it should take 2-4 weeks to hear back (that's what I was told, and others were told up to 6 weeks). So it does take a while, but it's understandable considering their large applicant pool and the general design of their review process. It does make me feel better though, because it seems like they're reviewing each applicant fairly and accurately and really focusing on every aspect of the application process (GPAs, TEAS scores, personal statements, résumés, and the interviews themselves). So while it does take a while and cause a ton of anxiety for us, it's probably a good thing.

Also, if you were accepted to all of those schools, I bet you have a great chance. Don't stress it and welcome to the party. :woot:

Thank you so much! That does relieve the stress a bit but for those applying out of state that need to know whether they should prepare to move or not. It does not seem quite fair to me. Hopefully the time is truly being spent wisely.

When do y'all think people will hear back from the second round?

When do y'all think people will hear back from the second round?

Based on notifications going out this past Friday, supposedly they are meeting on Monday, and it taking about two or so weeks per wave I'm guessing it'll be around a week from this coming Friday. However when I interviewed this past Thursday they said it was about 6 weeks, though I think that's to give them some padding. No real way to be for sure though.

I think the board meets every other Monday, and it seems like emails go out by the Friday after they meet!

So first round people who haven't heard back yet won't hear back for another two weeks?!?!

I know a lot of those who interviewed between Spring Break and Friday the 24th heard back this past Friday but that does not mean anything. There are lots of interviews going on and we were told it could be as much as six weeks so don't panic if you haven't heard yet. They are taking their time which is hard when you are the one waiting but I like the fact that they are considering each candidate holistically.
