Hi everyone, I am doing some pre requisite work and plan to apply to the UTA BSN program, my question is this, will there be any different in my transcripts with an online program? Are there disadvantages to taking this program online vs traditional lecture? I understand you dont get the face to face interaction but I dont see that as being a problem, I imagine there will be lab or in person sessions to be completed as well as clinical rotations eventually anyway. I just want to make sure I wont be at a disadvantage when I apply for jobs if I have done the program online? Will I have to state I finished the program online etc? Any advise would help. Thanks!

Hi! I am transferring to UTA after many years out of school and am starting the rest of my pre-reqs on Sept 27 through the AP BSN program! So excited!
When my father-in-law had a stroke in April two of his nurses were from the first graduating class of the AP BSN program so that's how I found out about it. There is zero difference as far as your diploma, whether you went on-campus or online. This program is actually partnered with hospitals and those hospitals hire you when you graduate. So, they obviously view it as completely acceptable and equal to "regular" nursing school routes.
As far as transcripts go the courses will look like anyone else who took the courses on-campus. I just completed 3 online courses this summer and my transcript , for example, says PSYC 2314 and that's it. The course numbers are the same as the on-campus course numbers.
I hope this makes sense...I have 2 little kiddos that are teething and sick so I am very sleep-deprived :) I can assure you that having a BSN from UTA is a very impressive degree and nobody cares how you got there...as long as you get there :) We will go through the same clinicals as traditional-track students and we have to pass the same licensure exam as everyone else in the state.
So....kick butt and sooner rather than later you will have your degree!

hi,
I was wondering for those who were accepted into the program, did u complete the 3 required pre- nursing courses (Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, & Intro. to Nursing) before starting the first official semester of the Nursing Program at UTA? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

KatLd1021,
I have applied to the Spring 2011 UTA BSN Academic Partnership Program. My partnership hospital is in Houston, TX. I am still waiting on a response. I am currently taking Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Intro to Nursing. I do believe these courses should be completed before starting the official nursing program. You may want to talk to your advisor to be sure. But FYI students admitted to the Spring 2010 session found out around November 10, 2009.

I am EXTREMELY NERVOUS and probably wont be getting much sleep tonight due to the terror of rejection that might come my way tomorrow. I will keep u updated! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Kat,
I can feel you pressure here. I live in Houston and currently am going to Lone Star Kingwood. I applied in Sept for the Spring program. Even though I have like .5 away from a perfect score for admittance the damn waiting for my acceptance letter was brutal. Then once getting it waitinf ro the background check to come back fro BON...my lil Blue card, haha that was stressful. But i am sure you will be fine.
I was accepted to Lone Star then found out about the program with UTA, now I am awaiting admittance to the general university and will then apply for the fall start. I think i will just start the nursing program here are Lone Star, even though many of my classes will not transfer, it will give me a good outlook in how nursing school is in class. I am curious how the classes online are for the generals. I have a few more to get done by the beginning date in Sept. I am taking Pharm online now here, but probably will not transfer, so how is the Pharm, Patho and Intro to Nursing with them. Is it very hard? Extremely time consuming? how do you like the format of the online courses and how is the website for your classes? I am sorry to be asking so many questions, I would just love another students thoughts and ideas. Thanks and i will be praying for your letter to arrive soon!!!

find out more about UTA's online program http://www.stateu.com/uta
The program is taught by the same faculty as the on-campus program with faculty at the partnership hospital where you do clinicals and they are interested in you for potential employment. Transcripts will reflect your degree is from a well-respected college of nursing with a reputation of tthe Best nurses.
Pass rates on NCLEX are above the national average and they have been recognized as 1 of 9 top performing schools of nursing (out of 105 schools)
