Oh. I see. I have a 3.6 overall but around a 3.0 for my sciences so I'm not sure how that will go. I'm thinking of applying for spring 2011 but I'm not sure if I will get in.

I wouldn't doubt that you only have to have requirements. It is my understanding that the traditional UTA program is tough, but I have the feeling that as long as hospitals have the space, they will take you. Then they can hire you when you are finished with the program. I haven't seen any other threads mention UTA online admissions.

I have, however, been trying to meet with an advisor for 4 months! My transcript has been in the "evaluation" stage for weeks. I want to apply by May 15th but can't until the advisors look over my transcript. Anyone else having this problem? Any advice from others?

I know the advisors have been super busy lately because about half the undergraduate advising department quit early in the semester. They've hired others, but evidently it takes a while to train them, so there's basically just two advisors for all undergrads. Have you tried e-mailing your advisor, or just calling? Maybe you can e-mail the advisor and express your concerns (that the deadline is tomorrow and you haven't been able to meet with them because the wait is so long). They usually don't respond back right away. I actually received an auto-reply from my advisor when I had a question a couple months ago with basic FAQs, and it took almost 2 days to get a live response from her.

The most unfortunate part of all the advising department issues this semester is that it reflects very poorly on the college of nursing. The faculty I've had thus far (I'm finished with all of my nursing prereqs) have been outstanding, and they are clinical instructors later on in the program. I hate that the advising problems may be dragging down the reputation of the whole program...

Oh. Do you know how many people enroll a session? I can't find much about their program online. Also, is there an interview process?

Are you trying to get into the traditional track, or the Academic Partnership program? There are many different things that the admission committee considers in addition to grades (e.g., whether you hold another degree, how many of your classes were taken at UTA, etc.). I am starting the traditional track this fall and had a prereq GPA of 3.6, a 4.0 in science, and a HESI score in the high 90s. From what I understand, spring isn't as competitive as the fall, and I personally know people with GPAs less than yours that were admitted to the Academic Partnership program, but completely denied for the traditional track. The AP program is so new, so it's hard to tell... Good luck!

Yes... the AP is online, but you will still have clinicals and skills lab at local hospitals that partner with the university. Evidently, you also must come to campus once every couple of weeks to take exams and tests because they are proctored. Basically, the content you would receive in class (lectures) are delivered online with the AP program...

SO i spoke with my advisor at uta. She said i would be denied since i did not make a 75% on the hesii score despite my grades. You metioned you knew some people that got into the academic program with lower gpa's than mine. Can you please tell me what their hesii scores were like if you know? She also recommended that i retake the test asap to be considered for the spring,2011. I tried setting up an with prometric testing like she asked me too, but they are asking for an elgibility number! What should I do? Do you know where else i can take this test?

I'm not sure what their HESI scores were. You can retake at Prometrics, yes. I signed up to take the HESI through Prometrics, then decided to take it at UTA. It seems like when I signed up, I had to provide an e-mail address, then Prometrics sent me the code. ? I'd call Prometrics. As I mentioned in another thread, don't take any sections of the HESI that you don't need for UTA. If you take other sections, even if UTA doesn't require them, they said they will look at them. Or this is what they told us when I was testing at UTA.

THanks. I tried finding a way to register for the test, but before i can do that it's asking for that number. Did you take the exams back to back or did you wait a couple of months..
