Hello, I went to a community college for 3 years after I graduated in 2011. I didn't know what I wanted to become but I recently decided to do nursing. Since I am 21 I would like to get my BSN as quickly as possible. I live in Houston, TX. I don't know what to do because my GPA is so low. My overall GPA is 2.89 and my science GPA is 3.0 and I looked into UTA online BSN program because it's only 15 months long. I just applied for it and I will be taking the HESI next week.
My questions:
1. What are my chances of getting in? Is there any hope at all?
2. Are there higher chances of me getting into the online program than the one on campus?
3. I submitted my application for UTA and if I get accepted(which I doubt) I have to complete another application to get into the nursing program, how long does it take to find you have been accepted to the school itself?
4. If anyone did accepted with an overall GPA lower than 3.0, what was your exact GPA? And what was your science GPA?
5. Is there another online BSN program that is in TX with a short length of time like UTA? And if there is are the clinicals affiliated with any in Houston?
Please if anyone could answer these questions for me I would really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time into reading my thread. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!

Hello,
Are you talking about the University of Texas Arlington?
UTMB - has branches in Houston and Galveston and have 15 month on site program with clinical in both cities.

Um, are you sure that program is available online? I can't imagine learning everything you need to become an RN without doing any clnical rotations. Even Excelsior (which has an online RN program) Requires that participants are already LPNs or Paramedics. Are you sure that BSN program isn't for people who are already nurses?

I can verify that UTA has an online accelerated BSN and an offline non-accelerated BSN program. Both online and offline programs require clinical rotations (so I suppose that the online program is not 100% "online" but this is as close as it can get). For the online program, the rotations can either be done in Arlington, at a Houston partnered site, or also at a Corpus Christi site (if memory serves).
Yes, that program!
What are the requirements getting into UTMB Houston location? Would my GPA be meet the requirements? How competitive is it?
You Texans are lucky to have so many options. I'm jealous.

I thought you had to have a RN license to do the RN-BSN online. And two years of experience. The BSN is 4 years. Unless you have a Bachelor's in something else. You got to have at least a 3.0 GPA. This is how it was explained to me by a UTA rep in May.
