Hello everyone. I was searching for a thread but could not find one so I am starting this discussion topic for USF MSN non nurse spring 2018 applications.
Lets all discuss our stats like GPA, volunteer experience, etc. I have a decent prerequisite GPA right now. I have registered for Micro and psychology and will be taking in fall. My undertgrad GPA is 3.15 in computer applications (not that good). After working in customer service I was no longer interested in computers so decided to change my major.
Lets start this journey together and good luck to everyone.
Hi everyone,I have been following this post for awhile and got my rejection letter last week. I thought I had a decent application as I have been working both as a patient transporter and medical assistant for almost a year from graduating from college. I finished my undergrad in health sciences with a 3.4 and have a 3.7 in pre reqs. I also have my CNA license as well as volunteering for a hospice and interning at a pharmacy as well. Pretty bummed I did not get in but I will be re-doing my personal statement and asking for new LOR. Any advice for possibly making my app for competitive? Any help would be great! Thanks guys, congrats to those who were accepted and good luck to those who are still waiting on a answer.
Hi! I was just accepted into the OC campus for the Spring term and I just want to say don't give up!! I know so many people who got accepted after applying two or even three times.
I didn't have the best GPA (my undergrad GPA was significantly lower than yours) and I had very little health care experience. I just made sure to perfect my personal statement and made sure they were able to see my passion for pursuing nursing on paper. I also received LOR's from people who I can trust to say only the best things. I had one from my anatomy professor (whom I built a solid relationship with throughout the semesters) and one from my personal mentor who also happens to be a nursing manager. Many schools only accept professional LOR's so I wanted to take advantage of the fact that USF allowed a personal one.
With that said, I feel like USF really does put a big emphasis on your personal statements and LOR's, and in my case, even more so than GPA and health care experience. Since you already have the healthcare experience down, I'd suggest really honing in on your personal statement. Best of luck to you!
Still waiting on a status change, call, or letter for the main campus. So far nothing. I've reached out to the school of nursing with no response. Anyone else still in the same boat?
I'm there with you. Still no info. I called earlier and was told decisions are still going out, and that this is the last week that notifications will be going out.
@helloimkate, that is the most confusing thing right now. A lot of people have already received their acceptances and many have received rejections. May be only the waitlisted people are left..? If yes, then why are they not informing us of our decisions? The more I try to figure out what is going on, the more complex it gets. I hope that they release all the decisions soon as this wait is killing me...
edit : I was expecting that if we are waitlisted then we would get an email in the morning to check status online just like OC applicants. But I don't think anyone got an email today. So may be they still have spots available....?????????
I think if we are waitlisted we will get a letter in the mail. It would be easier to just update our portals so we would know sooner. But they said decisions still going out and should be all done by end of this week. But Im still hoping they are going to have everything completed before thanksgiving. We gotta hang in there! I can feel we are almost there guys!

I just called and asked regarding SF campus. She told me that "notifications are still going out." I asked if she knew if phone calls were going out today still, and she said the same thing that the nursing committee is delayed, but notifications are still going out. Good notifications? .... :/
