USF MSN CNL non nurse spring 2018

Published

Hello everyone. I was searching for a thread but could not find one so I am starting this discussion topic for USF MSN non nurse spring 2018 applications.

Lets all discuss our stats like GPA, volunteer experience, etc. I have a decent prerequisite GPA right now. I have registered for Micro and psychology and will be taking in fall. My undertgrad GPA is 3.15 in computer applications (not that good). After working in customer service I was no longer interested in computers so decided to change my major.

Lets start this journey together and good luck to everyone.

Thank you for the detailed information. I signed up for 01/09/18. I took anatomy last year so I have to refresh a lot of material considering the fact that sometimes the questions are too specific. Yes I will be buying the practice tests from ATI website and may be their study manual too. All the ADNs near my area are lottery system too except few of the colleges have multi phase selection process along with the lottery.

Hopefully we hear from USF soon so that we can take future decisions accordingly.

I'm on the same boat. I will have to move IF i got accepted, but only have less than a month to look for a place to move in considering they do not offer on campus housing.

I'll just be applying to other schools now instead of waiting for decisions.

Oh my gosh I'm literally waiting to submit my applications.... They're ready and everything. Its not cheap to apply. I don't want to be paying for that if I do get into USF :(

This is the end of the 10th week right?

You have plenty of time! Definitely brush up on Anatomy and Physiology. A huge portion of the science will be on them. There are also apps that you can download for free on your phone if you want to practice on-the-go. I applied to one lottery and one with a point system. I think I might find out for the lottery one next week or so. Fingers crossed I'm lucky enough to be picked haha.

Yessss. :( I also don't want to waste extra on other apps if this were the case. But at this point I think I should just do it anyway because I applied to the OC campus and it's possible that they release it in early December... Yup, this is the end of 10th week for main campus!

I have a feeling OC and Main campus decisions will be out at the same time. I know for all the previous cycles they came out at the same time. I'm hoping that is the case with us too! Also hoping they increase the cohort size for OC campus...

@Macyymace what other schools are you applying to? I was planning on applying to more but decided to only apply to USF for this cycle. If I don't get in, I'll probably apply to a few others next cycle to help increase my chances.

@mangos526

I hope that's the case! But I guess I'll just expect it late nov-dec so I don't keep making my self anxious haha.

For the spring 2018 term I'm only applying to USF for grad programs. And two ADNs. For fall I'm applying for Western U. If i don't get into USF, I'll consider applying to CSULA' absn program. How about you?

Because of the expected time to hear back from USF, I was holding off applying to Samuel Merritt's MSN program due in December... However, if they're extending it to an unspecified time to inform us of our status, I certainly do have to make arrangement to apply.

I sympathize with those who have to move across the state or even county within such a short notice - the holidays may damper on availabilities for finding housing or travel arrangements.

Has anyone heard of a specified date of when they will let the SF campus applicants know? I know the OC campus may hear after the SF's statuses'.

Personally now I feel it appropriate to call throughout the week if they haven't gotten back to us now; especially without sending a courtesy email of the delay in confirmations.

(+ I have applied to USF's main campus for Spring 2018 and also Western University and University of San Diego. Samuel Merritt will be my final one for the 2017 year.)

So I tried calling the office, and when I dialed the number it told me to press 2 for graduate admissions... when I did it played music for about 5 seconds then I heard nothing? I stayed on the line for about a minute but no one picked up. Has anyone else had this problem? Or has tried calling today? I know they said that decisions were delayed but I wanted to try calling to see for myself if it'd be this week or the next.

Edit: I found the actual phone number for nursing grad admissions and left a message. Will be updating y'all if they call me back.

I emailed today and received this response from Ingrid in Admissions:

"Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, the review process this semester has taken longer than anticipated. Your application is still under review and pending a decision. We hope to have decisions out within the next couple of weeks."

This is taking too long! I have committed to Samuel Merritt ASBN and will be declining my spot if I am accepted.

oh my gosh next couple WEEKS?!

Not to mention applying for FAFSA, I'm just gonna fill it out just in case bc it's getting too close. I don't wanna get accepted then not have any funds bc they took too long :|

Wow! Next couple of weeks??? That's such a bummer. I was accepted into Samuel Merritt's ELMSN spring program, but was waiting to hear back from USF so I can make a sound decision. Such an inconvenience hearing back so late!
