Hello everyone. I was searching for a thread but could not find one so I am starting this discussion topic for USF MSN non nurse spring 2018 applications.
Lets all discuss our stats like GPA, volunteer experience, etc. I have a decent prerequisite GPA right now. I have registered for Micro and psychology and will be taking in fall. My undertgrad GPA is 3.15 in computer applications (not that good). After working in customer service I was no longer interested in computers so decided to change my major.
Lets start this journey together and good luck to everyone.
I called the admissions office and got the saaame answer that they've been giving; that we'll hear back at the beginning of this month and it will be SOON! I told her that this is the tenth week which is when we should be hearing back and asked if we'll hear back in the middle or at the end of this week (I was desperate) and she said she wasn't sure but that it would be SOON. She was also very vague on how many applications there were this cycle & if they were done yet with the decision making but she did mention that there are about 30-35 seats in the program. (I remember someone mention on the past forums that if you speak another language(s), especially Spanish, that they would increase that number to 40......)
Hello.
I currently have a 3.5 Prereq GPA and 3.2 Bachelor GPA. 80 hours volunteering at a senior center (giving back to the community). 80 hours volunteering at the ER department. I am a current caregiver with 3 months experience. I had 2 professors who I tutored for over the course of an academic school year write me a letter of recommendation.
Those are my stats.
I was rejected Oct 31. and I am surprised to have been rejected? I thought I was a competitive applicant but im moving forward now. I'll be retaking classes to improve my prereq GPA at community colleges and will get my CNA license.
Hope you guys get in. goodluck!

Omgosh I am so sorry to hear that phambo!! Thank you so much for letting us know I truly appreciate it! I'm over here thinking that no one has heard anything back yet. Those are some really great stats and I'm glad you're moving on with the right attitude. I have read that they receive more qualified applicants than available seats every cycle so don't take it personally. As long as you don't give up, you WILL BECOME AN RN!! I will be right there with you in the same boat if I don't get in this cycle....
Do you mind telling us how you were notified?

You have amazing stats! Way better than me, honestly! I think that getting your CNA license will make you an even better applicant for next cycle. Good luck.

Hi Phambo,
Thank you so much for giving us this update. You definitely are a strong applicant! Perhaps there just isn't enough seats for qualified applicants. Did you apply for the main campus? Maybe you can call the to ask for tips on improving your application if you do decide to reapply! Reading from past threads, some have applied 2-3 times. I'm also preparing myself just in case I need to reapply. Already seeking out other professors I can possibly ask for LORs to switch it up if so.
Would also love to know how you got the notification. I have been checking e-mails, the online app, and my mailbox every single day lol.

Hi Phambo, sorry to hear that you were rejected. Your stats look competitive and it is strange that you were rejected.
Just to clarify, was your application for USF MSN non nurse program with September 1 deadline? I am little surprised after reading your post because no one that I know of have received their decisions yet and almost everyone on this forum was thinking that USF will release all the decisions together this week.
Goodluck for your future applications and thank you for coming here to post.
I received my notification through the application status page and applied for the 2018 Spring Main Campus. It said it was updated on October 31 and once you click on the link, it will redirect you. I was shocked because I have been checking this thread and no one else has been notified. Which leads me to believe that I wasn't competitive and I was rejected in the first rounds. I'm hoping that some of you will post your stats because I felt lost for a week however i'm starting to pick up again. I'm gathering alot of motivation for my next steps. Thanks in advance for the people who post stats and their status when it comes out!
Also, I've followed previous threads before and this seems like a new application style that USF is trying out. I heard it is their own instead of going to third parties. I am hopeful that this was a mistake and my application status will change once everyone else's decision's roll out, since i'm the only one i know who received the notification.

Oh wow! Was that the first ever status change for yours? I am so sorry that happened. Your stats are definitely better than mine. In fact, now I am scared that OC just hasn't started rejecting yet because of the later deadline
But on the brighter side, at least the main campus has a summer start so you can reapply ASAP. Also, if you want to seek help from current students, some of them come back to the threads and are quite open to questions!

That is also possible! I hope that's the case for you! I haven't seen anyone with status changes either and there's a handful of us in this thread.
