USD MEPN 2015 (Univ. of San Diego)

Published

Hello. I know it is early but I thought I would start this thread. Is anyone else getting their information ready and applying yet?

good morning @ LiveYourDreams,

I am so glad you started this thread and I will be applying for Fall 2015 MEPN. I got started on the app a little bit but the statement is gonna take lots of time. Will you be applying as well?

Yes, I am applying as well. I am also working on my application. It definitely will take some time as I want to read over my final draft of everything a few times before I even consider turning it in with my application.

Good luck to you!

hello @LiveyourDreams,

The app doesnt look as rigorous as my previous mepn apps lol. USD is def my top priority school. Are you attending the info sessions? just out of curiosity, were you previously in a nursing program?

missliliposh,

Sorry, I did not receive an alert that you responded. I have not been in a Nursing Program before. I have attended the info. sessions. I went today and once before. How about you?

LiveYourDreams

hey, omg i was there today too. not sure if you saw me i am the girl with the big curly hair lol. I really love that school and I hope get in. Did you submitt your app yet?

I would say the same about myself. The girl with the curly hair. Lol. Were you sitting in the front row? I love the school as well. It is the only school I want to go to.

I have submitted the CAS Application and will be turning in my USD app next week. You?

heey there,

no i actually sat at the back lol. I was a little late but I was able to hear majority of the informations. This is my third info session at USD and it shows I love the school so much lolol. So far I just need my SOP edited, references and resume w/ volunteer hours. I also need to send the usd app as well and i already did all the scenario questions. I wanted to write as much as I can but but as the MEPN student said, "write from the heart" lol. I hope we get accepted to this program it would be amazing :-).

I hope we do as well! When I wrote the scenario questions I tried to use those as a chance to say some things that I wasn't able to say elsewhere in the application. I just tried to make them related to the question. But someone pointed out to me that the people reading the applications will be reading about 500 of them and the first time they are likely to just skim through to make it to the "maybe" pile. So she suggested to keep my answers short and to the point.

I keep editing the scenario questions and narrative. I think I am done then change things around. I am almost there though.

Wow, you have got me beat. I have only been to 2 of the Open Houses. Good for you!

The references can take a while, especially if the person writing them is fairly busy. How it works though is that Nursing CAS will send them a link and there will be a list of questions for them to answer. Then, at the bottom there is a box for comments. In that comment box is where they should put the letter of recommendation. I checked with all my references and had someone who did not realize they were supposed to do that, even after I mentioned it. She is a very busy person so I understand but am glad I caught it.

oh ok cause I wasnt trying to make my scenarion answers super lengthy. like you said I want to say the best answers as I wouldnt input in my application. Also I sent all my transcripts to nursingCAS and i was confused on how to input my courses cause im not very familiar with the website. Once I read directions over and over, I was like this is easy I'm just trippin out lol.

Did you get the email from CM saying thanks for attending info sessions, it was very thoughtful of her and it builds up my motivation to go to USD even more. :sneaky:

I started attending the info sessions last fall and spring and honestly I wasnt motivated enough or determined to apply. But this year I feel more confident and dedicated this year. I'm debating about going to the next one lol.

oh really, how long did your recommenders take to do that process, I was expecting just for them to upload a letter electronically and thats it. oh wow thanks for the heads up and I will surely let my recommenders know.

It did not take my recommenders very long but I also gave them like a 1 month notice ahead of time. :)

I just went to turn in my app though and found out that I am still waiting on one. I think the person who forgot to put the letter in the comments forgot to resubmit it so I will just remind them.

I officially turned in my USD portion of my app!

I am so excited! Yes, I did get the thank you. It is very thoughtful, I agree.

Same here. Since July of this year I wrote out a statement of purpose and attached my resume so my recommenders can have a little background on why I want this opportunity . all I have to do is send them the link in advance and I also added the for the university's deadlines.

You turned yours in early, gaahhh your way ahead of me lolol. All I need is my statement to be edited and my hours audit so I can attach it to the resume.

AP and CM also sent another email saying the deadlines approaching, seriously no university has a big heart like USD. I am praying on my knees and hoping I get in:D. I had to redo like half of their pre-reqs, get A's in them just to be qualified for their program.

Are you also applying to any other programs as well?
