US RN (associates) moving to Canada 2018

Posted

Hello everyone!

I am a US educated RN, with my associates. I ended up getting married right after graduation, to a Canadian, and now live in British Columbia. I have a work permit and have gotten my National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) back, but have not submitted it to the CRNBC. I just want to work in Canada as a nurse, and can't believe it is so hard to do so.

We are considering moving to the US, or close to a border crossing so I can work in the US as an RN while completing my bachelors. If I were to stay where I am and jump through the hoops Canada is telling me I have to at this point, its going to be AT LEAST another year and $3000+ for "equivalency" stuff, which will in turn count for nothing in the US, should I ever move back.

Have also seen where RN's apply for LPN status in a province, but I have no idea how I would get my BSN from there...

I am desperate. Any recommendations/stories/experiences?
