Updated pay rates local hospitals

Published

Hello everyone!

I did a search of prior posts but the info is from 5+ yrs ago. Just looking for base pay (clinical nurse I) with shift differentials at area hospitals. Specifically Harford hospital, St Francis, Waterbury, Danbury and Griffin hospitals.

I know from a recent interview that YNHH is starting at $29hr + evening $3.75, night $5, weekend $4.70 differentials

Thanks!

Take this with a grain of salt I heard rumors that Waterbury Hospital staff took a 5% pay cut

Hi!

From what I know about St Marys and Waterbury through my nurse friends who have in the past or currently work at these hospitals, base pay is between 29-31/hr depending on experience. Differentials I believe are similar to what you mentioned YNHH pays. I have heard that Griffin starts low to mid twenties as base pay for nurses with little to no prior experience.

Im not too sure about Danbury or Hartford for exact numbers

I did hear that as well, has something to do with whatever company is buying the hospital. Supposedly once that goes through they are supposed to go back to the original pay.

Knew a nurse who work's at Waterbury loss $600 a month in pay.

Curious how St. Mary's will do merging with that Catholic based hospital group. Feel they need a lot of work done.

St Marys new grad pay $29.25/hr. Evening diff $2.45. Night diff $3.45. Weekend diff $3.75. So far not much has changed with the merger with Trinity. We were informed 2 weeks ago that they are NOT doing a wage freeze, so everyone will receive a wage increase based on performance evals. The only thing that changed is they did away with the weekly contribution to our 401K where they matched what we contributed and as of right now will not do a year-end contribution either.

Waterbury Hospital staff did take a temporary pay cut. I do not know how long it is for, but from what I hear, staff is not very optimistic that they get that money back.

St Francis starts new grads at $28.75.

Hi you guys!

I am wondering how up to date these pay rates are. I am currently in a dilemma on whether I should move back or not. In SC the beginning pay for new grads is 23.15 with an almost 12$ diff if you work nights on the weekend (35$/hr). Of course the cost of living is amazing as far as renting. I pay 530$/month living in a very nice quiet neighborhood. My fiancé makes pretty good money also. I am originally from CT:) Relocated for school to SC and I will be graduating this May with a BSN. 1 year of acute psych experience as a RN extern at a state facility. My dream is to be an ER/Cardiac Nurse for about a year, and then apply to NP school for Jan 2017. My sister works for Yale as an oncology RN and my father works for the VA, so hopefully I can get a foot in there. I am just curious to know if the move is worth it... What are the current job opportunities for RNs in CT? What is the best hospital to work for? What are the current pay rates like?

I work for the state of CT with 2 years experience as a psych RN and make $32/hour + differentials.

My sister works at a hospital in Fairfield county. New grad with a BSN and her base rate is $31.xx. I don't know her differentials.

Do you know what hospital that is?.....Bridgeport Hospital, or St. V's maybe?

Both Bridgeport and SVMC start at around $29.00 for new grads as of last year (2015) and that is ADN. Bridgeport doesn't pay much more for a new grad BSN ($0.25 maybe!)

Does anyone know how much the VA Hospital pays? West Haven or Newington....
