I am currently a nursing student in an ADN RN program in Virginia. My expected graduation date is July 2022. I am originally from New York and planning to move back after graduation. I plan to take my NCLEX as soon as I graduate and when it is available to me so I can apply for NYS RN license. I emailed a Pediatric Fellowship program of a hospital I want to work at. I really want to work in Pediatrics. They said that BSNs are strongly preferred and that makes me scared to apply. And also a little discouraged that I wouldn’t get in. I was wondering how do I make myself more marketable even though I don’t have a BSN? I have clinical experience as a CNA. I currently work at a children’s hospital in Virginia. I plan started my BSN as soon I finish my current program and pass my NCLEX. Any tips? Anything helps!

If they prefer BSN, unfortunately that may hold you back if you're not searching in a rural area in NY, as NY tends to be flooded with new grads constantly. Coming from another area may hurt a bit too, as you're an unknown entity, while others in the area have had time to network. I would include your plans for BSN in your resume. Good luck, I'll cross my fingers for you

so get your BSN and while you're at it go get some RN Peds experience. When they say "Preferred" it mind as well mean required because the competition is so stiff. Lotsa BSN prepared nurses here but apply and also start applying and start your BSN program so you can prove that you are in the process of getting your BSN. good luck

I plan on starting my BSN immediately after. But the problem is I want move as soon as I finish school. And I don’t want move with having a job. Does anyone know any hospitals in NYC that hires nurses with ADN only. I have clinical experience with adults and children.
NYCHH hires with ADN but they want you to have your BSN within 5 years. I work for them when I got my ADN still here and love it. here's there website
