UPDATE: No Survivors of UofM Jet Crash

MILWAUKEE (AP)-Rescuers have found some human remains during their search for the six members of a University of Michigan organ transplant team who were onboard a small plane that crashed into Lake Michigan and do not believe any of them could have survived the crash, a Coast Guard official said Tuesday.

"The condition of the aircraft debris and human remains found indicate a high-speed impact," Capt. Bruce Jones said. "We believe this to have been a non-survivable crash."

The pilot of the twin-engine Cessna Citation signaled an emergency shortly before it went down after taking off from General Mitchell International Airport about 4 p.m. Monday. .......

What a tragedy for the transplant community. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the team member, the candidate and his/her family, and the donor's family.

My personal thanks go out to every transplant team worldwide.

Speaking from someone who is heavily involved in aviation, this is indeed a tragic event. My husband designs the computer code for flight simulators and he is involved in the designing the flightdeck (cockpit) applications of the Cessna Citation, the aircraft involved in this incident. The company he works for is often privy to the ATC transcripts, and it will be interesting as his company is already looking into this horrific event.

I've been following this event and as soon as I hear something which I can report, I will relay it here if anyone is interested. Not that I'm privy to a lot of information, but things like this often fall out of the news and usually information is not passed on to the general public.

My deep condolences to the families involved in this tragedy.

Yes, very sad, this happened in our Milwaukee Marina, or just outside of it.There were hardly any pieces larger than a foot to recover, Iv'e heard. Bad weather here has hampered some of the recovery work. Was all over the local news here for quite a few days.

I also heard that the man received a double lung transplant and he's doing well from last I heard. He does not know of the crash as of a few days ago.

Can you imagine how this man might possibly feel? My best wishes to him.

In my previous post, I was referring to future news, when the final NTSB report comes out. IF I can update, I will. I have a family event coming up later this year and unfortunately, I may not be able to do so.
