I took NCLEX today & had all 265 questions. I tried the PVT & it took me to the CC screen. I feel like crying. I know the PVT is pretty accurate, but I still have hope that I passed. We have been told to not trust the PVT, but still. I took the Kaplan course, studied 4 days a week since the end of May(I worked 3 days a week & too tired to study when I got home), my Kaplan scores were in the mid 50-60's range. I just hope I passed. The worst that happens is that I have to retake it & repay the test fee. I feel as if all the hard work & dedication I have put into studying was for nothing if I didn't pass. If I didn't pass, what are some strategies I can use for next time? Thanks!

Try the PVT mid-day tomorrow. If it's still taking you to the CC page then, chances are not good that you've passed. If you didn't pass, wait for the CPR report before you reschedule an exam. That will tell you what areas you're not performing well in. The fact that you went 265 mean that you were right on the bubble between pass and fail pretty much the entire time, so it may not actually be a problem of content knowledge but rather your ability to read the questions.
I would say that next time, slow down, breathe slowly & deeply with each new question. Read the question, answer it in your mind first. Then look at the answers and see if you're in the same ball park. Then re-read the question with an emphasis on looking for key words and phrases (not doing this cost me valuable points in school, btw) and then read the answers and choose the one that is the most appropriate for the patient. Then "submit" and move on. Don't worry about the question you just had. It's in the past and you can't change it. Don't worry about the next question coming up because it's not been set yet. Only the question in front of you matters. As you have found out, you can go the full 265. Expect that. If it shuts off at 75, you either did definitely well or definitely poorly. Beyond that, you're still in the game to pass or fail because the computer hasn't decided yet that you've met pass or fail criteria. So, expect the full 265, plan on the full 6 hours and if it shuts off before that, then the computer has determined whether at that time and exam you've met passing criteria.
Good luck and I hope that the PVT changes for you as the 2nd scoring is the definitive one...

WOW..I do hope it changes for you. When I took my test the results were on hold for 24 hours..then the next day it took me straight to the cc page..I cried for sure..I felt like a dummy but I soon got over it and wouldn't let failing stop me . Relax it's over and there isn't nothing you can do but wait now..in 2 days you can pay for quick results $7.00 and get your answer..Good Luck
Thanks for the tips & the luck! I'm hoping that the PVT changes. But if not, it is what it is. The only downfall of retaking it is having to pay the fee all over again & not getting to work as a RN as quickly as I had hoped. I'm getting burnt out working as a CNA & am ready for a change!

sorry you most likely failed! the same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. I hoped that the CC page was wrong, but NOPE, I failed also. Kaplan was a waste of time and did not help me for the exam!! I suggest you use something else besides the overrated Kaplan crap.
Update: I did NOT pass. I checked the PVT before I went into work & when I got home 12 hours later & I failed. :-( I cried for about 5 minutes & then told myself that I WILL pass the 2nd time!! A friend is going to tutor me & I'm going to see what I can do about Kaplan. Maybe get my money back or get an extension on the site. I wasn't stressed going into the test. I think my problem is not being able to decipher what exactly they want at times. And med-surg I know for a fact is a weak point of mine. I hardly had any med questions, peds or psych. Peds & psych are my strong points! Hardly any delegation as well, but a lot (or so it seemed) of SATA & "this nurse is going to a conference...what should she teach?" Oh well. Here's to next time! :-)
