Hi guys,

I am applying to University of Washington's accelerated nursing (ABSN) program and wondering if anyone has any input regarding my chances of admission.

I have a Chemistry degree with a minor in Biology from Oregon State University. My undergraduate GPA including re-taken courses (OSU replaces initial grades for re-taken grades) is a 3.07; however, when including ALL courses ever taken (i.e. initial grade AND re-taken grade), my GPA is a 2.97. With regards to UW's "natural science" requirements, I have a 4.0. I have about a 3.7 in the overall UW pre-requisites. Experience-wise, I have been a medical scribe for more than 4 years with over 5,000 hours of experience across numerous medical specialties (ER, ortho surgery, Neuro, urology, and more). I have a little over 200 hours of direct patient contact care as a volunteer, at which time I worked primarily with RN's.

My ultimate goal is to achieve an ABSN and then apply for an DNP (with focus in acute care gerontology) program after that.

What do you think?

hi i’m also planning to apply

your stats are better than mine. my gpa is below a 3.0 and no experience except for volunteering in hospitals

i read on the website that they look at applications holistically. hopefully they look beyond grades

@tropicalbreeze

Thanks for the reply! Volunteering in hospitals is a great way to get hands-on experience. I’m hoping they look beyond grades too because although the minimum requirement is a 2.75 I have heard that UW is very competitive grade-wise (although this might be mostly for the medical school).

I hope we get in! Good luck!
