UTA BSN Online Spring 2019

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Hey everyone!

Just curious as to how many of us are applying to UTA's AO BSN for Spring 2019.

I'm planning on applying, but scared that I might not get accepted the first time.

Overall GPA should be roughly 3.06, Science GPA 3.75. 3 considerations.

I had an advising appointment earlier this week, and she said if I retake History (made a D), it would better my chances, but I am considered 'highly competitive' with my 3 considerations.

Dumb question, but how do you learn and apply your clinical skills online? How do you do labs?

Hannah-

I'm not sure how many applicants they accept each year. I would be interested in finding out, though. Is your 3.6 GPA overall, or science? What courses are you currently taking at UTA, and what are you planning on taking this summer & fall?

Hi and thank you @JLA48 for creating this thread! I am considering applying to the online program for spring 2019 too but I am not sure if I'm quite ready. I spoke with an advisor and he recommended for me to apply to UTA for the spring term. I have not completed the pre nursing reqs nor taken the TEAS and I'm not sure about the deadline for the BSN application. I want to finish all the lower division pre reqs at my local community college in order to get an associates degree and then apply to UTA and do the nursing pre reqs ( I plan to have everything ready by the end of Summer II and then move on to UTA). Do you guys think I will be ready to apply for this upcoming spring semester? also, what is the deadline for the BSN application? thank you!

The BSN Application deadline for Spring is June 1. You can find all of the deadlines and required courses on UTA's BSN website. As far as I know, you can complete all prerequisites at a community college, with the exception of Patho and Pharm. They do give extra consideration to those who take a certain amount of general hours at UTA, and a certain amount of Science hours at UTA.

The clinicals are done at area hospitals, and students have access to the SMART Hospital on campus. :)

Hey Everyone!

Due to reading another thread I am completely FREAKED OUT I will not get into UTA in Spring 2019 :( I saw this past entrance was a rough one for many on a blog just like ours. One guy had even applied three times and was waitlisted and his overall GPA was higher than mine, plus his sciences are 4.0 and he had 2 considerations too. YIKES. So I'm freaked out. Praying somehow people forget to apply in Spring and that the competition is less stiff. I am a current student at UTA, I am in their "intended nursing" status and I have 6 classes left to take. Intro to Nursing, Pathos, Pharm, and 2 Govt and 1 History class. I have a previous bachelors but the amount of school I've had to complete to get to this part even has been almost an entire year of school. And year and a half by the time the program has started. At least I'm currently enrolled as an AO student, so they know I can do an AO program and courses. My current GPA is 3.52 overall and my sciences GPA is 4.0. Currently I'm in the top 15% of the class at UTA but still doesn't seem to matter considering that other guy didn't get in with like a 3.66 overall and 4.0 sciences last term. I know the applicants change each term and I'm just freaked out. Ugh. I haven't even taken the TEAS test yet but his score on the HESI was like a 94. I just can't believe this. Ugh I have no other school's I'm applying to. I have TWU in mind but I don't want to have to retake Pathos and Pharm and Intro to Nursing. UGH Plus nutrition. And I need a completely online program. Other ideas? HELP. I'm stressing BIG.TIME. Oh and I have a previous bachelors (NOT from UTA) so I have that consideration as well as 12 science credits from UTA and 27 credits of undergrad through them, but they won't count the next 2 classes I will be taking tim January so that sucks. So I guess 2 considerations and I'm not partnered. Oh and that other guy had 2 considerations as well. So I just feel really bleak about this y'all. I'm not even a Debbie Downer but I'm just turning 35 this year and I've got little kids so I can't do an in-person program.... And I've worked SO HARD to get to this point. UGH. Please help.

I'm sorry I'm not trying to freak everyone out :(

Was that other guy applying for a spring or fall semester? The fall semester is harder to get into since they have way more applicants. A UTA nursing advisor even told me the spring is easier to get accepted to. Each term of applicants is going to be different as well.

I'm not sure who he is exactly but I believe it said his name was Brandon maybe? I don't know him, just on the blog from last semesters. He said he attempted applying a three Consecutive times. So I'm assuming two fall semesters (since he applied for last fall) and then one spring semester. I don't know if he intends to apply again. He's looking for the online program from houston I believe tho. He was finally waitlisted to the on campus program in dfw but he turned it down cause it was too far to drive for him- would have been 4 hour commute. Plus waitlisted May have not even turned into an actual acceptance I can't remember if it did or not for him. And yes I've heard spring is easier than fall, but not by much. i've heard there's 500-900 applicants from one person and then I heard 900-1200 applicants from another. I dunno which is right. But both were UTA advisors. And they take like 125 or 150 I think? I just have a pretty low overall GPA 3.5 something. My sciences is 4.0 and I have a previous Bachelors degree and 12 hours of sciences at UTA but still stressful since I'm not partnered and I wish I was. Ugh and once we even apply I hear we won't hear back til October usually. They told them late sept and they let them know 2-3 weeks into October. I'm like yikes. Whew Hopefully I get in, that's all. I'm trying my very best. I'm sure we all are.

My 3.6 is overall and my science is a little lower, but it is not by much. I am currently in intro to nursing, and I am planning on taking pharm in summer and patho in fall! I just am hoping getting my application in later than others (it will still be before the June 1 deadline) will not hurt me. I just cannot submit earlier because I am super busy moving, graduating from college, taking finals, etc /:

As far as I know you will not be in jeopardy at all cause after the deadline they rank all the applicants. So I would say your chances are not worse off than anyone applying this term... as far as I know. I don't believe they send acceptance letters early or anything- I'm pretty sure after cutoff we're all in same boat and just ranked according to GPA, sciences GPA and considerations í ½í±

So I recently spoke with an advisor and she told me they do accept Patho & Pharm from other schools...but they're super particular about which ones. For example, they take Patho from Austin Community College, but not Pharm. And she told me some of the only schools she has seen Pharm transfer from are in the Dallas Community College District.

Hannah,

Apparently Patho is recommended before Pharm. All of my nurse friends have told me this, and I confirmed with the BSN advisor that this is true. Just a heads up. :) I just registered for Patho this summer with Dev. Psych and Pharm and Stats this fall.
