Read all the readings and watch all the videos. Trust me, you can't skimp on them in this course.

ScarletFire and others!

OK, already having issues. I am trying to download the readings for week 1 for N3325. The first reading downloaded like a dream, then the others keep saying outside of blackboard learn. Do I need to go to the library site to open the readings. Thanks for any help!!!

Hi rosemrn,

I downloaded almost all of them last night w/o any difficulty. I don't think the library site would have them since they can be found on the internet. Maybe you can try downloading them from outside of blackboard, just like you would going to any website. Just copy the URL, close out blackboard, go to your usual browser page and paste it in the address area and see what happens. let me know.

my problem will be finding an elder to interview since we are not allowed to use relatives.

I got mine to open on all of the readings for week 1 anyway. I just don't see a discussion board that has been set-up under the group tab. So far it just has email and something else, no discussion! I hate Blackboard. Found my interviewee to complete that assignment.

Hi Amy,

I'm not a fan of blackboard either. I find myself opening up the same things over and over just to find something simple. submitting assignments is more difficult than epic, too. my group has a discussion board listed today, but no one has submitted anything yet. glad you found your interviewee. I am at a loss as to how to find one. I have some neighbors who are in early 70's but i think they would be offended if they thought i considered them "elders" at the end of life (life review definition says this is a process by which a person evaluates their life as it nears the end). not sure what to do about this dilemma. taking 3 classes and working full time means i don't have any extra time to go to a senior center to meet someone. plus, i don't know about you, but if it were me, i would not want to speak about personal aspects of my life to a complete stranger, even if she (or he) were a nurse in school. may have to drop and take this class at a later time. we'll see.

Do your parents or grandparents have any friends? You would be surprised at how much they would like to talk about things in the past. My client is 72 and feels she is nowhere near the end (still plays tennis everyday), but understands the "psychology" of what I need to accomplish. I know what you mean by "busy", British Literature is lots of essays (4 a week), luckily there is no right or wrong answer. Be glad for the Christmas break!!!

Hi Amy,

Yes, there are lots of good choices from the pool of my parents' friends and neighbors. Unfortunately, I live 3000 miles away from them. I don't know if a phone interview is an option, but these folks are now very pre-occupied with dealing w/ the aftermath of Sandy and some still don't have power after an entire week. I heard today that another deadly storm is coming their way this week. It would be selfish and inappropriate of me to ask them to help me right now.

I still have a few more days to think about it, so maybe I can figure something out.

My AC told me to open readings through Foxfire. That worked. Now I can't figure out how to submit my self evaluation including the aging quiz, etc. I emailed her about that also. I do not like blackboard, but sure it will get easier. I have a neighbor who is 83, but hate to ask him soooooo many questions. Feels invasive. Hope you can find someone. Please let me know if I can be any support or assistance. Surely I can do this! This is one of the easy classes. It is just more frustrating navigating the software.
