DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I'm about to finish the RN-BSN program from there. Initially I chose it because of the "affordability," and short terms. However, I would advised anyone against it. They keep tacking on new courses saying that I haven't "satisfied" the requirements, when I've been using the degree plan my advisor sent me. I'm now having to take an extra class, College Algebra, because they said the advisor didn't apply the transfer credits correctly, and they have "no way controlling what someone else did." Are you kidding me?? This was someone who worked in the Nursing department and you have no way of controlling what they did???

So two months before I'm set to graduate, they tell me this. I've checked my degree plan regularly. Also, they lied about being able to take Nursing Research and the Capstone concurrently.

This school will drag you on and on and on, and take your money. You're better off looking elsewhere.

We're in the same boat and I feel your frustrations. I'm supposed to graduate in May but the RN advisor told me that my math needs review and asks for a syllabus for Tech. Math that I took years ago. Another advisor gave me credit for Tech Math to satisfy my math requirement and even updated my degree plan a while back. So now after reviewing my records, he's asking me to provide a syllabus, and it's nowhere to be found. I'm just frustrated coz they lied to me saying that I got credit for my technical math. I thought I'm set to graduate after Capstone so it looks like I have to take another math class, then Capstone which would delay my graduation. I feel like do I really need this math class after I am almost done.

I wish I was surprised to hear this. I'm an FNP/MSN student, and will be graduating a semester late (at least) because they bungle everything. From day 1, I knew I had made a serious mistake and should have gone to a private school. Just make sure not to do your graduate work here. The preceptor situation is horrendous. Truly the worst school I have even attended. Best of luck to you.

Sorry to hear that LucyLou88. Just an update with my post, after waiting for like a month, they eventually approve my Technical math course for math requirement. I was able to graduate for Spring graduation. My only advise is always communicate with the program adviser for any issue. I get faster response with email and always follow up with them. I am still not sure though if I would continue my education with UTA for MSN due to financial reasons. Overall, I would still recommend UTA RN-BSN program but I've heard stories about the FNP program preceptorship and how it is disorganized. Good luck to you and hope everything would be ok and you'll soon graduate.

Sorry to hear about the bad experiences. I finished the RN-BSN at UTA in August 2016. Overall, it wasn't a bad program and I felt like it was organized well, for the most part. I will say that you definitely have to stay on top of the academic advisors and constantly follow up with your degree plan. I had several issues with this but none of it delayed my program completion. But, like I said, you have to stay on top of it and make sure YOU know where you are with your progress. Don't depend on someone else to make mistakes!

Aw man, I was really hoping this school would be more competent. Was hoping to do FNP there after I get my BSN... maybe it'll be better in like 6 years? :(
