a little inquiry about usn in henderson. any past or current students in here? please share your thoughts, experiences and concerns, any information is appreciated.

i am interested in applying for the fall 2009 semester. i've recently just started the process in applying there, i am a little lost in the application process as well. any help will do. thanks, k.

Pretty new school, they just accepted their 5th class I beleive. You have to get a 90% and above on every exam, every assignment, absolutly everything you do. Their schedule is a block program, you take one class and focus on that for a few weeks, pass it and move on. So in a way its good because you graduate with a 4.0....Are you already in the program? Sry to answer your question....after you submit your app, you get an interview with 2 professors and 1 student, you also get a tour the same day...then afterwards they mail you a letter letting you know if you got in or not. THey are also requiring the teas test now. Once you send the letter back saying you will attend (can't remember if you have to send a deposit or something) you get all the documents in the mail (busy paperwork!), attend orientation and start school a couple days later! Tough program, they are still ironing out all their wrinkles, it is a new school so have patience but also look at other schools as better options.

Thanks nvbsn2b. I've had change of plans now, I didn't apply for USN. I called that number they had on their website and commercials to call for inquiries three times. I left messages, contact numbers, etc. I even emailed the contact lady twice, to the school of nursing but she NEVER replied. I hadn't had any callbacks at all. So, I figured they weren't interested in new applicants. I don't like to deal w/ schools that don't follow up and frankly, it's a little rude. Sad really, seems like there's less people applying to nursing schools now. I guess they don't need the $$$$? (that's why they don't do callbacks/follow-ups) . . . Oh well.

I am interested in this program as well... Anyone current students/graduates willing to chime in with their experiences? Worth the money???

Any more info about this school??? Please.... Current students/graduates???

Hi all,

Just wondering, has anyone ever been denied of acceptance at USN? because it sounds like they pretty much accept all from what I've read so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank's!

There are a lot better schools to apply to than USN. This school started out as a Dr. of pharmacy program only. They feel they can teach students of nursing using the same methods they used for pharmacists. Their drop out/fail out rate is the highest of all the schools in NV. If you drop/fail out and apply to another school those USN grades don't transfer and if you try and reapply to USN they make you start at the beginning because they don't even accept their own credits.

USN does not handle failure well and ostracizes students who are struggling. You could spend a whole year passing each class with 90% or above and then follow that with just two bad months were you perform in the 80% and the school will cut you off. You'd think this school would value you after all you've accomplished.

If you have read my post and choose to attend this school anyway... good luck, of course, luck will do you no good when you've completed the entire program and keep scoring in the 80's on your NCLEX predictor test and the school won't graduate you till you score in the 90's.

I applied there for Spring 2011. has anyone else applied??

Let me tell ya... it's hard enough to get a 75% on anything in nursing school! It's torture to get a 90% and since I don't like torture... NO, I didn't apply to this school. I'd like to keep my sanity intact! These nursing schools need a wake up call, since nursing is not a hot ticket anymore. Private schools need to take a closer look at their "rules."

Without their students, there are no profits. Investors pull out. Sooner or later, they're going to have to close down. On top of that, private schools are competing with state schools for students -- of course, they would never admit this. But, when their bottom line is too low (or none at all) -- don't be suprised that nursing is no longer offered.

I am a graduate from USN.Wonderful Dean and professors. I enjoyed and learned great from the school. the program is set that you only focus on one subject at a time and then you test. The clasrrom setting is modern and the technology is awesome. The program is very intense and so you must be 100% responsible. I enjoyed my clinicals. The chose the best hospitals for their clinical. After i graduated, i passed my NCLEX on first attempt. The dean and the professors wrote nice recomendations for me for jobs. I got job just like that. I used everything i learned from the school in my job now. The school is expensive so I am stuck paying back my private and federal loans. But it all worth it.
