University of Southern Maine Options MSN

Published

Hi everyone,

I am pleased to say that I have recently been offered admission into the USM options MSN program in Portland, ME! I want to find out more about the program and what kinds of experiences current and past students have had. I've been having a hard time finding much "out there." Is there anyone on this forum who wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts with me? What do you think are the strengths/weaknesses of the program? Did the school assign you preceptorships and clinical placements? Would you choose USM again? Thanks!

Hi Falco,

Congrats on being accepted! I am not only applying to this program next fall but I received my undergrad and all my pre-reqs at USM. They are a great school with a very strong nursing program for both BSN and MSN. I found their curriculum, compared to others, to be pretty strong especially in touching upon treating patients during all stages of life.

As an accepted student to this program do you mind providing me any details about your stats as an applicant (the pre-reqs you had, undergrad gpa, medical experience, etc)? I am just curious to see how my own portfolio might be viewed when I apply (like you said, there is not a lot out there on applicants or this program). Congrats again! I hope you enjoy the program. And if you're not from Maine, you're gonna love living here!!!
