What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing the number of seats offered in a program, with some confusion about the exact number of full-time and part-time spots available. There is also debate about the fairness of offering acceptances early in the interview process and concerns about the scoring system. Additionally, members are inquiring about additional interview dates and waiting for acceptance notifications by the end of the month.

Hi all, just submitted my app on 11/10 and attended a zoom information session last night. Good luck everyone!

you got your email from Pitt to accept already for part time Ebietoma?

I got the email to activate account, after I got my username and password, I logged into mypitts and under admissions, it gives the option to accept admission and pay deposit.

Oh I didn't know we can do that. I can just go online and pay the deposit? IDK why I thought we had to wait for the email.

You are not alone, I thought so too. But looking at the thread here, after I got the email to activate my account- I just checked around to see what was under my admissions slot as suggested by someone earlier. And I figured it out from there.

I just paid mine! Thank you so much ☺️

Of course!! Are you able to tell me if your application status says cancelled? Mine shows like that which confuses me😑

Yeah it looked like that on mine but I still had the ability to pay for my deposit. I also noticed the application number was different so I don't think we need to worry. I am planning to call admissions office Monday to confirm everything is still good on my end. I can update back on that.

If anyone needs a guy roommate reach out I'm not from Pitt and trying to strategically plan this move haha.

With this part-time offer, I am grateful that I get the freedom to work and rack up a lot of coins before full-time enrollment. That, and I also get to complete some credit hours in the first year, so I am suspecting a lighter course load when I start full-time, get to move to Pittsburgh for a year, and take advantage of the in-state tuition cost. Win-win in my book! Wishing you full-timers luck with the excitement plus stress of moving in a short time.

SAMEE I'm so happy for the part time offer because of that. What are your plans? I'm looking at some travel contracts before taking maybe a PRN position or something in PA.

Do you know what year we graduate with the part time or the graduation time difference between the full timers and part timers? Also do you know if FAFSA would cover our partime classes?

Currently located in the midwest but will be heading back the east coast to work full-time and be with family and friends until I have to relocate to PA. Will likely establish residency in PA before Jan 2027 though. It would be good if we had a part-time FB group too. Also, can't travel because I love having stable health insurance and a check just because 🙂

I was also wondering the same thing since we are going to complete some credits before starting full-time. I strongly suspect Dec 2029, I may be wrong though. Let me know if you get a more solid answer. Also, I will shoot you a DM.

FAFSA will totally cover part-time classes, living expense, books, supplies, etc. We sorta lucked out because we get to take out Grad Plus loans before they are eliminated on July 1, 2026 because of the (not so) Big Beautiful Bill that just passed in Congress. There is wording in it that says once you've taken any Grad Plus loans for school before that date, you'll be 'grandfathered' into it, and so you'll still benefit from getting those loans until you've completed the program, but within the new limits that were set. Fortunately for us, UPitt isn't one of the more expensive schools and our expenses should fall within the new limits.
