Hi, my name is Donna I am 22 yrs old and have recently graduated from a 4 yr university with a BS in Health Studies. I have recently been accepted to University of Delaware and Wagner College accelerated nursing programs for the Fall of 2011. I have been debating which school to go to all summer and have come wit h the following list. Any information anybody can give me about the schools would be greatly appreciated.
Wagner College - local commute, will live at home with parents. cost = 60,000 15 mos
very good school education wise, clinicals are one day a week throughout whole program,
worries = living at home again, ive already been away at school for the past four years, the fast pace of starting clinical and classes at the same time,
University of Delaware - $ 68,000. more money for rent. 17 mos,
also a very good education, clinicals begin during third semester with class, group clinical sessions with one doctor. Many interesting simulation rooms,
worries = parents guilt trip me into going to wagner, spending more money for unnecessary schooling for the same degree,
I really like Delaware because of the atmosphere, ( when i went to wagner i did not feel comfortable, i felt weird being in thebasement of the building iono it cld just be me) Also i enjoyed looking at the simulation rooms at delaware, they had five rooms each with a different body to learn off of ( maternity, baby, and a burn unit).
A bonus to Delaware is living on my own away from familial stress and being closer to my boyfriend. ( as icing on the cake my parents believe my only reason for going to Delaware is because of him but its not, i do really like the school)
Any advice on my situation would be lovely. I am torn between the schools. And to me logically they are both expensive. Wagner being $60 and Delaware being close to $80 including my rent money. I would be taking out a loan to pay for both schools ( my parents would pay half). Education wise they both have great programs. Wagner being shorter and more fast paced.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Confused and torn ( Donna)

It sounds like you want to go to Delaware if you like what they have to offer then go there despite the cost and your parents guilt trip. You don't want to go to a school where you are not going to be happy.

Speaking solely from the perspective of debt, you will appreciate the lower cost of Wagner tremendously once you've graduated and start working to pay it all off. Now, if your parents are paying for it, consider you're spending your/your kids inheritance and act accordingly. That could be the money for the personal care home for your parents that you're spending!!
Wow, this is definitely a response from my inner old lady....am I officially old now? Get back in there you old broad, I REFUSE!
