Did you work in the past 12 months a qualifying number of hours? If so did you leave the job through no fault of your own (job eliminated, lay off, downsizing )?

Unemployment is an earned benefit not an entitlement. Often being a full time student is a disqualifying factor for UE as attending school full time is not a 'valid' reason not to work

You would have to have been employed in order to get unemployment.
