Understanding the process and my options in GA

Published

Hi, all! We recently moved here from Texas.

I have a BA, but am wanting to become a nurse. I have three children...two preschoolers, one grade school....so I'm not really looking to do the traditional BSN.

In TX, I had started taking my pre-req courses...I did my nutrition online there. I would like to get as much done as I can that way, simply because of my little ones. I'm not in a rush, but I don't want to start from scratch when I get the littlest off to school, KWIM?

But in TX, I knew what to take...what would allow me to get an RN...then do the bridge to BSN later. My community college offered all the pre-req's online (except labs) and I just understood the process.

We live in the NW suburbs...so GA perimeter college is not convenient. Can you suggest places to take the general prerequisites? Even online? Is the GA Highlands program good?

I'm just LOST figuring out how to get some of these things under my belt while I still have the little ones here.

I really appreciate your time and help figuring out where to look!!

I'm not exactly sure what colleges are near you but here's a website that shows all the colleges in GA maybe you can start there

If you want to take your classes online, I would try Rio Salado College. It's based in Arizona, but you can take Microbiology, Anatomy, Chemistry, and such all online. You just have to take the midterm and final at a proctor site of your choosing. It's a lot of reading, but it's definitely doable! If you want more information, just post back!
