Under H4 to take NCLEX in NY

Hi everyone. I have been reading posts in this forum and I bumped into terms like AOS (Adjusment of Status) and EAD. Not sure how to apply for those. I am here in NY under dependent visa (H4) waiting for my eligibility to sit for nclex. If in case I pass my exam, what should be my next step if I want to work here? :confused:

Do I have to take IELTS or TOEFL? Or is it even required here?

How about Visa Screen? Can I take it already? Or do I even need to have it?

Lastly, how about the Certification Program? Is it necessary in my case?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions. Thank you for those who would help answer my questions. :o

Did you check out the NY BON website??? It answers all of your questions regarding what is frequired. Under H4 visa as far as I remember you aren't authorized to work unless you are able to change the status to a working visa. You may want to contact an immigration attorney. Good Luck

The issue is most nurses come under EB3 and that is under retrogression, unless you can find a employer willing to go the H1b route and you meet criteria (BSN and experience/specialised) the chances of you finding work is minimal and unless your spouse gets a greencard you will have a long wait ahead of you. Depending where you live in NY many nurses generally are struggling to find work in NY just check out the NY state forum

agreed that H4 are not entitled to work in USA. they are dependent.

Obviously they know the restrictions of their own visa. They want to know the next step to be able to work here. The short answer is: you can't. There are no visas available for you. The long answer is that there may be a way, depending on your background.

What type of nurse are you? Do you have experience? How much and what type?

Re CGFNS, Visa Screen, TOEFL etc... that is all listed on the CGFNS website as to what is required. Most states do not require the certification program any more.

obviously this person does not know the limitation of their visa, if they are asking how to AOS and EAD from an H4. if they are planning on sitting for the nclex they are prolly not aware that they are wasting their time.

try asking at visajourney or immigrate2US.net. VJ is very straightforward and full of experience. imm2US is mostly mexican EWI trying to legalise by hook or by crook. then there is rajiv's board, full of indians that have committed petty/serious crimes in USA and are trying to avoid deportation.
