UK trained nurse struggling with NCLEX

Hello all,

I need a bit bit of advice and guidance from fellow nurses. I recently moved from the UK to Texas. I graduated last year and worked for about 10 months in the UK. I'm now in the US and got all my credentials assessed. I took the NCLEX a couple of days ago and the outcome was not the one I hoped. I'd like to know if there are here any UK trained nurses who passed the NCLEX because I seriously need some help. I took a Pearson review course and a NCBSN course but to no avail. thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi - i know this probably won't be much help either - but I am also having the same problem!

I am a UK trained nurse and have taken the NCLEX-RN exam twice this year and failed both times. I have bought the books (Kaplan, Saunders & LaCharity) and taken the online review course with Kaplan. I am still struggling to pass. I plan to take again in May (which I think will be the last time my board will allow me to take without having a further update course). I need to pass 3rd time!

My suggestion is to practice questions and read the rationale. Do this even if you get the question right as the rationale will help you see what the keywords are

Hi NurseinUK1

hope u have now passed your NCLEX exam by now! Was wondering if you can enlighten me , I'm a UK trained nurse with a diploma in adult nursing graduated in 2005 and considering to take an nclex exam in Texas. My background is A&E with 12 years experience! My question rather is weather there was any problem assessing your UK credentials in order to proceed to take The NCLEX exam. I am considering a move to the US but getting rather disheartening with all the problems once face if you are a UK trained nurse . An advice of where to start and how to go on is very much appreciated

Are you able to get a copy of your transcripts? If so check you have clinical and theory hours in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult. Any missing will have an impact on receiving eligibility to sit NCLEX

Good morning

Please i dont know if you can help me, Please how did you qualify for NCLEX? Cos i heard some people say UK Trained Nurses qualification do not meet the entry requirement for Nclex. Please what state did you registered with and how long did the process take.

Also please what is it like to work in the USA compare to UK. What Unit do you work?
