UI nurses begin bargaining for new contracts with UI Hospitals

A local health care union will begin talks today on a new contract with University Hospitals and the Iowa state Board of Regents.

Service Employees International Union, Local 199 represents 2,300 health care workers at University Hospitals.

The union will present its offer for wages and benefits for the 2005-06 fiscal years at a 4 p.m. meeting today in room 100A in the pharmacy building on the University of Iowa campus. The meeting is open to the public.
