 I am a pretty easy going person, but this really honked me off...So I go to my first CNA class tonight because our 1st one got cancelled because of the snow storm. (Live in Texas) I get to the nursing home, where my college told me to go, and the people in HR told me they were there this morning!!! I got no email, no nothing from my professor! When I went to my college's website to find her email, she does not have one!!!! I can't believe this! My husband and I paid $1200 for this????

Sorry, I just needed to get this out! I came home so upset because I have been reading my book already, doing my workbook, and all that crap for this? :angryfire

Can't wait to call them tomorrow and talk to someone about what happened. Of course I will be nice about it :) I am just so excited about starting my nursing career!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reading all the posts on here get me so pumped and ready for this! My husband said not to go back, but I am not giving up, NO WAY.

Thanks for letting me get this out =) Thank you also for sharing you posts, I can't wait to be a CNA and evenutally a nurse!

I've been there too. I was a late registration student. (long story involving university classes and not being able to get overrides) I submitted all my paperwork, paid my fees, and bought my book and supplies. I went to the classroom it was to be in and waited for people to show up. No one did. Funny thing was, the attendance sheet was on the desk. I asked security, other instructors, and even the janitor staff. No one had a clue why no one showed up. The next day I called the head of the CNA program and asked if she knew anything. A few hours later she called me back and said the instructor was a bit of a "rogue" and did things her way. The instructor went to a different classroom because she had taught in it before. Because I had registered late, I wasn't on the email list or the phone tree.

Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone... In my experience I wasn't behind the first day I missed because it was just orientation basically. The whole "Hi my name is..., this is the book we are going to use, etc, etc." So I really hope that was all that went on as well. Plus if you have read the book a bit you're probably just fine as far as that goes. Feel free to post what you get figured out. Due to our similar experiences I'm curious now.

Good Luck!!!

... In Ohio, if you miss any of the first 16hrs of the class, per the state, you are dropped from the program (from what I've been told from my program). I wonder if these instructors have ever been sued over something like that before...

I went to my first clinical assignment in the wrong uniform because I had missed out on info that had been put out at a meeting that was held in a restaurant. I had been driving around and around trying to find the restaurant and was the last to arrive. No idea that the instructor had said all the important stuff first and didn't think I needed to be told the same things as the others. Then she had the chutzpah to give me hell when I showed up out of uniform after driving 100 miles. I felt like telling her off. Needless to say that clinical rotation was not one of my better ones. Miscommunication is common and you can bet that you will always be the one at fault if you fail to get the word.

Wanted to add: If the meeting had been held at the school as it should have been, instead of in a restaurant in a city I didn't know, I would have been there first and got the information.

I would def be on the phone with them. In NC if its a state approved program you can't miss more then two classes or they have to drop you, no exceptions. Every state is different but given the money you put down for the class, I would call them. Its their fault, and whatever state guidelines they may be under if you can't continue get your money back asap.
