I interviewed for acute med on thursday and also got invited to tour the unit.. I'm from the bay area so about a 5 hour drive. The manager said she would get back to me monday or tuesday. The hospital is beautiful!!! The time is going by sooo slooooww waiting to hear back it's almost driving me nuts!

Write your thank you notes!!! Can't guarantee they will have an impact, but I'm sure they are at least appreciated.

Wow, a unit tour?? I'm jealous! Hehe. May I ask, what exactly is acute med-surg? Such as, what type of patients you serve?

I wasn't too sure either.. I thought this was a general medical-surgical floor :o. During the unit tour the charge nurse explained that the acute med floor is equivalent to a step-down unit, they get pts straight out of ICU and the pt ratio is mostly 3:1 but can be 4:1 depending on acuity.

This waiting is driving me koo koo!!!!:banghead:

So impressive and thank-you for sharing! If you dont mind, i have one last question...Was this the 8 east unit?

I don't mind at all :) The unit is split between 7 east and half of 5 east.

Waiting is so hard!! I interviewed on the 11th for CT ICU. It was an interesting interview. I felt like I only talked for about 10 mins. She asked me about 1/2 way through if I had any questions and so luckily I did. So be prepared with questions for anyone who hasn't interviewed yet. Sounds like they will take 10 spots for the CT ICU.

Anyone know how many they are taking for the cardiac surgery unit? She told me she's "interviewing 12 and hiring quite a few" I wish I never saw the unit because now I want it like 100x more. Lol

I want it 100x more too!!! I'm getting all excited and looking at apartments and stuff.. I'm staring at my phone and demanding it to ring with a 310 area code hahaha I'm really getting my hopes up here. My unit director said she is interviewing 8 and hiring about 4

That's great chances! 50% lol. And why would they show us the unit and introduce us to people if they were going to say no? Like.. "Here's where you COULD be working and who you COULD be working with, I'll call u Monday or Tuesday to say no" that doesn't really make sense right? Okay I'll stop. Keep us posted and I will too. She told me shed call me this week I believe.
