Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?
Well, I wouldn't lose hope. I know that a number of people are likely to reject UCLA's offer. I've already committed to another program, and even though I could withdraw, I've decided that since the other program will graduate me as an NP, it's the better choice. I'd have loved the prestige of UCLA, but the other school is more aligned with my goals. I'm sure many others who received UCLA's acceptance letter feel the same way.
I hope you're right, because that certainly sounds correct. I've worked at a university before, in a study abroad office. All of the advisers had their own sets of students that they were responsible for.
I have kept in touch with a professor at UCLA Extension from one of my prerequisites, and he said that while he doesn't know about nursing, with other schools at UCLA, various staff members are responsible for getting back to different piles of applicants. It sounds like everyone so far has heard from RF, but perhaps that's because she finished her pile sooner than others? Just a thought...
I got accepted to UCLA's MECN and CSULA's ABSN/MSN. I'm still sticking to CSULA. CSULA actually recommends that its students work as RNs during the MSN portion because it is important to build up experience. However, I have met direct entry NP grads from CSULB who got hired without RN experience. I've been talking with a few nurse managers from St. Joe who also recommended that I take the direct entry NP route if my goal is to become an NP. One of the floor nurses I've been asking advice from went the traditional CNA to ASN/RN to BSN, now getting her MSN/DNP. She told me to take the most direct route to NP if that's my goal because she would do the same if she could go back in time.
RN experience may provide some benefits but I don't think that it will make or break the NP role. Personally, I don't think my time as a CNA is going to give me an advantage as an RN. The roles and responsibilities are so different. By extent, RN and NP are very different roles too, right?
Different people will just have different opinions on this topic, but I don't think there is a right answer.

How do you know if someone has ------------? I had ------------- with all the previous email communication I had. Does that mean I might have not make it since I didn't hear from her this time around? Well, I really hope you're wrong cause I have not heard anything at all... sigh.
There isn't a way to know who has what pile, and I don't think it's based on who has emailed you in the past. I've had emails from both ---------- and -------------- during this process and don't think it's related to their responsibilities as far as notifications go. It's obviously a guessing game at this point, but between my communication with the professor and also two other applicants having heard from ----------- as recently as today that they are still in the process of finalizing applications, I have hope they aren't completely finished with acceptances. Also, wait lists haven't begun to be announced, and I am willing to bet that because this year we are hearing so much later than in the past that more people will commit to other programs that they have already been accepted to. All we can do is sit tight and hold onto some hope!

I'm slowly losing my hope. No email and "no decision made"
But CONGRATS to all of you that received your acceptance letters!!! :)
