UCF Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Hello! I am applying for the nursing program at UCF for the Fall of 2011. I am really excited and really hope that I get accepted. Is there anybody else on here that has applied yet or is planning to apply?

Really? I'm the only one on here so far? Starting to feel a little lonely.

Hi there, I have applied to the Fall 2011 program (Orlando) as well. I will also be applying to the SSC/UCF concurrent program for Fall 2011.

Hi. That's a great idea to apply for both just in case. Does SSC have a waitlist? How many semesters would it take until you get your BSN? Are you finished with all of your prereqs? Well I hope to talk to you more. Its nice to see someone else on here :)

I am waiting for acceptance into the University and then will be applying for Fall 2011. I concerned about my gpa though. I have a 4.0 in my prerequs, but a D from 1993 is keeping my overall at a 3.6. I can't seem to get any good answers on whether or not I have a shot.

Hello swarner. I think that your GPA is still very good and when they look over your grades and see that your D is from 1993, they will have consideration since it was from so long ago. Did you take the TEAS yet? What was your score for that because I know that they also take that into consideration. I think that you definitely have a great shot. Also, you can apply to the nursing program right now, you just have to be accepted to the university by the time they review it, which won't be till after Feb 15th. I already received my acceptance to UCF but I applied for the Spring 2011, so I had to submit a reactivation form for the Fall 2011 and now I am still pending acceptance once again.

Jenniferpnts,

I did take the TEAS and scored an 87.1. How long did it take you to get an answer from UCF on your acceptance?

An 87.1 is really good. I really think that you have a great chance. I got accepted about a week after I applied but I think that was because I applied for the spring, which was fast approaching. I submited my reactivation form over a week ago though and I am still waiting. When did you apply.

The BSN from UCF will take around 5 semesters. The SSC/UCF concurrent program will take around 6-7 semesters. You earn your ASN (while taking upper level UCF online nursing courses at the same time)...Then take the NCLEX, once you are licensed, you can take the final two courses from UCF and get awarded a BSN from UCF. There is no waitlist at SSC. If you are not accepted, you have to reapply.

I live in Lake Mary, so the concurrent program is more convenient for me. I have my first bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from UCF. I am back after almost 10 years of working in the banking/construction industry.

I have a 3.5 overall GPA. I did well in my sciences (all A's except Micro...got a B), and my other nursing pre-reqs. My general Ed courses from the first time in college were A's and B's, so my GPA is just average. I worry that this may be the reason why I am not accepted into the program. I CLEP'ed out of Gen Psy, Dev Psy, and Sociology. I scored an 87.3 on the TEAS, and I am all done with my pre-reqs. I will just wait and see what happens. It is so competitive to get into these programs!!!

What about you, Jenniferpnts? Is this your first time in college? second time?

I know what you mean about these programs being so competitive, but I do think that a 3.5 is still really good. You have to consider also that many people applying won't have all their prerequisites met yet and there are also many people with lower GPA's as well.

I attended Valencia CC and just graduated with my AA last month. My GPA is 3.95 and on the TEAS I scored an 87.6%. Still, I do worry about being accepted. I wonder how many applications they will receive for the fall semester. If you are accepted by both schools, which one will you choose?

Congrats on your AA :yeah:

Are you taking time off school until you get accepted? Nice gpa and TEAS! I would rather do the concurrent program because it is closer to home. I have my fingers crossed. Worst case, I'll have to take the psy, soc and dev psy to boost my gpa. I really hope I don't have to do that.

Thank you. I don't plan on taking any more classes until I get accepted. I have a lot going on over the next 3 months and plus I really wanted to spend some extra time with my family before I start the program, assuming I get accepted. How about you? What are your plans over these next few months? I can understand about wanting to take classes that are closer to you. I live about an hour from UCF right now but will hopefully be moving a lot closer within a couple months.
