UC Davis New Grad Residency 2019

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey fellow new grads!

Anyone else apply for the UCD new grad position that opened from Nov 21-28 for positions in Feb and April of 2019? Starting a thread to keep each other updated!

Good luck on the job hunt :)

Hi all! My name is Valerie Lansdale and am finishing up my Accelerated BSN in North Carolina. I am moving to Davis in June and have already applied for CA licensure.

I am interested in applying for the next round of the UC Davis residency program. Two questions for those who have gone through the recent round:

1. Do you know how many resident positions are open each round or cohort?

2. Do you know if all residency positions require a preceptorship in that unit's area? For example, I am aware NICU positions may require a preceptorship from your graduating school in the NICU.

@hhendersIf you learn more about the timeline for the licensure, please let me know what you find! Sounds like it takes quite a while for non-residents to get their license.

Hi Valerie!

I don’t know the answer to your first question, but I’m pretty confident that applicants are considered for certain units based on their preceptorship. I received an offer for the ICU new grad float pool and my preceptorship was in the ICU. I also have a friend that had an interview for a peds unit and she did a peds preceptorship.

It’s good that you’ve already applied for your license since it can take a bit of time! I went to school on the East Coast as well! The board actually approved all my things relatively quickly, it was my school that held things up. They took forever to send my nursing school transcripts, but I ended up getting my ATT Jan. 18, taking the NCLEX in early February when graduated in December.

Hope this helps!

Anyone’s application still say routed?
