Hi all!
Starting this thread so those of us who are applying to the program can keep everyone else updated.
Good luck!

Oh so you don’t get asked what units you prefer, they just invite you for interviews on the unit they think you’ll be best at?
Hi,
New to this thread. I too applied to the UC Davis nurse residency for Feb and Apr 2020. I can share with you some info that I have regarding the program.
To be considered:
- You MUST have done your preceptorship in the department you applied for to even be considered.
- You must have filled out the application completely (not just uploaded your resume) to be considered.
- You must have uploaded your one document in the specified order, in the specified format on their website (specifically their outline for how to show your clinical hours and preceptorship). Rumor has it, if you didn't follow their instructions they won't consider you. (They are VERY strict about this).
- Although not a requirement, they are very happy to see letters of recommendation attached to the application.
- They do not give preference to people who went to school in Sac and did their clinicals at UC Davis. In fact they love to hire nurse residents who went to school outside of California, to bring in a fresh perspective to the hospital.
Looks like last year they started routing people in December, and depending on the department, sending out invitations to interview in December and January.
As for me, I applied for NICU, am doing my preceptorship in the NICU as well.
Good luck everyone!

Hi Jenn,
They take a look at where you did your preceptorship and ONLY consider you for the department you precepted in.
Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for all of this information! So by following the instructions do you mean just making sure you have all of the correct documents attached to that bottom portion where you can upload references, cover letter, etc.? When I called HR after I uploaded all of that, she told me as long as its all there it's ok if it's not all in one single document. I hope I didn't receive false information!

From people I know who have been accepted into the program, they told me that it must be uploaded in one document. They were kind of adamant that this was a requirement, rather than separate documents.
I'm not saying this to freak you out, this is all I heard, so just sharing that here. This is what it says in the website verbatim in bold: "***(Cover letter, resume and unofficial transcripts will need to be submitted as one document under resume upload only - PDF preferred)"

It wouldn't be a bad place to start :).

This is great information to know thanks for sharing! Do you know roughly how many people they hire in a cohort? Any other pertinent information about the program or application process is greatly appreciated. I am really hoping to get into Davis! Sending good vibes to everyone applying ?

So, it depends on what's available for each unit as far as need. So for example, some areas that have better chances are ones that you see have frequent job openings. Sometimes they will hire a few new grads into one specific department, sometimes they will hire one, sometimes none.
As far as the application process goes, your application status goes from: application received > routed > interview > offer made > offer accepted.
Best of luck to you! I hope we all get what we want :).
